I have a solution for the state's budgetary woes

Any quick survey of traffic will demonstrate the popularity of alternative license plates in Texas. Currently, the state charges $30 extra for a “special plate”, those which proclaim motorists’ loyalty to their alma mater or various good causes. For an additional fee of forty bucks, you can have a vanity plate, with your personalized message emblazoned. All this leads your humble blogger to wonder how much of a surcharge Lone Star motorists would be ready to pay for a plate personally hammered out by The Hammer himself?

1. Unfortunately, license plates aren't hammered out anymore.

2. Or, just not require 2 plates

If they just required one plate it would save money. Plus, so many cars today have such nice front grills, that it's ashame to drill into them.

Make people pay the same price, but only get one plate.
