Chris Bell: I've Had Enough
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 11:41 AM by Lisa0825
ChrisBell.com Campaign Update

Dear Friend,

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough. Enough of our Governor auctioning our state government to the highest bidder. Enough of cash-and-carry corruption polluting our public square. Enough of mainstream voices being ignored simply because we don’t have our own army of lobbyists.

This afternoon in Austin, I’m going to stand up and announce a plan to bring real ethics reform to Texas. It’s an ambitious plan to limit the influence of big money and restore transparency and accountability.

Today also marks the deadline of our “Don’t Mess With Ethics” online fundraising drive. At a time when so many campaigns in Texas are funded by six-figure checks from state contractors and lobbyists, this online fundraising drive is a symbol of politics at its best – a true grassroots effort powered by mainstream Texans, not partisan insiders.

We’ve announced a goal of raising $25,000 online by midnight tonight, and as of 10 AM we’re less than $1,200 from our goal. I need your help to get us over the top. I urge you visit the website today and join the fight to bring ethics and integrity back to Texas:

Ethics reform is about more than Rick Perry or Tom DeLay. It’s about more than just kicking the money changers out of the capitol. Ethics reform is about giving us back our seat at the table and making sure that every Texan has an equal voice, and this starts with running a campaign that excites and embraces the grassroots.

That’s why I need you with me in this campaign. Please, visit my website today and join me in this fight. Together, we can take back our state.

Sincerely,

Chris Bell

P.S. If you’re like most of us, you have friends or neighbors who have stopped paying attention to politics because they are sick and tired of not having any voice. They’re sick and tired of the pay-to-play status quo that shuts out mainstream Texans. After you’ve visited the website and joined this fight, do me a favor and take a minute to forward this to one friend who is in that position. Let them know that there’s a New Mainstream emerging in Texas that is going to change the way we do business here in Texas. Help spread the word!

1. I've had enough too Chris
I'm going to fight to get our voice back in the Lege.

Ethics, it's the base of good representation. If you have a party with no bounds on what they can get away with, you get a country where 68% of the country thinks we're on the wrong track. Looks exactly like this country today.

Let's drive out of this ditch, by throwing over these repukes that we know just can't govern. It's time for real leadership.

2. I've also had enough
Of some of our "leaders" who keep advising us that if we play too rough with the repukes, they'll be mad at us. Screw that "Profiles in Discourage" attitude! Hurrah for Chris Bell!

3. I'm with Chris, I've had enough!
I met some people over the weekend who said they didn't think voting was important. I stressed to them (without being overbearing) that even if you felt that voting for the president didn't matter, you local and state elections are very important. And then I talked a bit about how messed up Texas is, and that it's important to vote Perry, etc out of office in '06.

But the good news, is that even from republicans (not hardcore right-wingers, but just conservatives) are sick of Perry and Company screwing up everything.
