Has anyone been paying attention to the Hunt/Mayor Miller controversy?
I caught a clip on a local news commercial yesterday and searched for some information.

I found a heavily biased (some things never change) Belo article
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/102005dnmetdalcouncil.10d6547e7.html

and this from dallasarena.com site:

Last Wednesday, we had Bill Blaydes and his gang of 10 council members standing up for Ray Hunt claiming we were going to lose Hunt Oil to Irving if we don't (1) give him a $6.3 million tax abatement for his ugly office building and (2) swap Reunion Arena and the land it sits on for a parking lot.

This Monday, we had KTVT-11's Sarah Dodd blow the lid off Hunt's big lie and Blaydes' big blunder when she interviewed the Mayor of Irving who absolutely denies that Irving has made a tax abatement offer to get Hunt Oil to relocate their corporate headquarters and ugly office building to Las Colinas.

The letter Hunt Oil's John Scovell showed to Lying Ryan Evans and City MisManager Mary Suhm was not a letter at all. It was Irving's guidelines for tax abatements. Not remotely an offer of a tax abatement. Once again, Ace Reporter Dodd is the one to get it and report the big hoax.

The council voted 10 to 2 to give Hunt the tax abatement and then went on to call Mayor Miller insane and stupid for opposing the deal.

Looks like now all corporations have to do to avoid paying taxes is wave a piece of paper in the air and make threats. Before I had even heard the details, I thought the Hunt threat was complete nonsense. Moving Hunt headquarters would cost a lot of money.

1. LOL! That's rich.
Thanks for updating us. Another piece of nonsense courtesy of the Dallas government. Why can't we get people who know what they're doing in there instead of all this wrangling and bullshit? I really tire of it all....

2. When I saw the thread title, I thought you meant Angela Hunt
Anyone know if our new council member is any relation to the oil Hunts?
