DCDP Filing Party TONIGHT!
You Metroplexers never need an excuse to party, but this is a very good one:

Mark your calendars for Monday, January 2, 2006, and join us at the Dallas County Democratic Party Filing Night Party, 6-9:30 p.m. at Poor David's Pub, 1313 South Lamar Street. With the filing deadline that evening, this will be the first chance to meet the 2006 Democratic Ticket. The price is just $20.06 and includes appetizers. Parking is available for $3.00 in the lot next door (look for the signs) or take the Blue or Red Lines on DART to the Cedars stop and walk less than a quarter of a mile.

Among those expected in attendance are candidates and officeholders seeking election and re-election to the U.S. Congress, the State Legislature, and Dallas County offices, such as DA, District Clerk, County Clerk, County Treasurer, various judgeships, County Commissioner, Constable, Justice of the Peace, etc. A complete list of candidates and information on filing status can be found at
http://www.dallasdemocrats.org/Lists/2006%20Candidates/AllItems.aspx

Building on the party's breakthrough in the 2002, and its even greater successes in 2004, the number of Democrats filing for countywide office is expected to be the largest in recent history-more than 50. Judge Denise Garcia, elected in 2004 to an unexpired term of office, will join Judge Sally Montgomery in seeking re-election, the first time countywide Democrats have been in a position to seek re-election since stalwart Democrat Judge Ron Chapman. As the song goes: "The times, they are a-changing."

Other countywide candidates will include several former judges seeking return to the bench, and, reflecting the perception that Democrats will be fully competitive in countywide races this November, primaries are expected in several Judicial races as well as for District Attorney and County Clerk. Among the candidates for State Legislature expected in attendance will be Harriet Miller and Katy Hubener, seeking to build on the momentum of their close races in 2004. Spend an hour or the entire evening, but do join us for a night to remember as we kick off the 2006campaign. Next stop: Victory in November!

Thanks are in order to Bruce Rothstein for chairing this important event. Please be there.
