Did U know Strayhorn is Scott McClellan's mom?
I hope this link works:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3563728.html

WASHINGTON - White House spokesman Scott McClellan, for years unblinkingly loyal to President Bush, went public Tuesday in a rare disagreement with the boss.

But as Bush himself might say, you don't get between a Texan and his mother — not even for politics.

"The president will support the Republican nominee (for Texas governor), and it's pretty clear the Republican nominee will be his friend Rick Perry," McClellan said Tuesday.

The White House spokesman has a different pick in that race: his mother, Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn, who is running as an independent.

1. Yes. She's also the mom of the FDA goombah Mark McClellan who is fighting
to "protect" American seniors on a fixed budget from the "dangers" of affordable Canadian drugs which are not sold at the outrageously inflated prices set by the Bush no-bid-give-away to the pharmaceutical industry.

I think "McClellan" is name number 2 from Carole Four Name's family values marriage-a-thon.

2. Yes, but it's from her first marriage.
She's Carole Keaton (maiden name) McClellan Reinhart (sp?) Strayhorn. Her dad was a dean at the UT Law School, which is one reason I think she's always included the name. She's divorced from the first two husbands and the third was her high school sweetheart from 45 years ago. When they married two years ago, she said her parents disapproved of the relationship and they both married other people.

I always liked her as Austin mayor and was very disappointed that she crossed over to the dark side. It was clearly political opportunism and it's hillarious to me that the Republicans are now claiming that she is a political opportunist to run as an independent!

5. Right. The "McClellan" is 2nd in "Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn"
I meant it is the second of the four names, not second of the marriages.

8. So you were okay with her condemning and shutting down
the Armadillo World Headquarters?

9. I have yet to find a politician who hasn't done something that
disappointed me. I really have no idea what her involvement was in the Armadillo World Headquarters.

11. I've lived in Austin since 1973.
Of course I've found Lloyd Doggett! He even gave me free legal advice when he was a private attorney in between state and federal gigs. But I'll bet if I looked through his voting record, I could find something that I disagree with.

What's the point of this? Carole McClellan was the darling of the Democratic Party back in the 70s. She was the first female president of the school board and the first female mayor. The fact that she became a Republican later changes all that? I'm not defending her, then or now. I liked her then and I was very disappointed when she changed parties. I won't vote for her but I think she'd be a better governor than Perry.

7. Yes
I grew up and attended school with his older brother Mark (former head of the FDA and now runs the Medicare program for *). Scott was two years back as I recall.
