1. Horale!
South Texas is my original home. Lots of family down that way. Glad to see the Valley getting some attention.

2. Nice to see that the Hispanic vote is being courted.
I wish him well down there. My wife's family is from Brownsville and my family is from up the border in Eagle Pass.

3. Rep. Aaron Pena's blog has more:
We have a real battle going on for the hearts and minds of those who live in the Democratic bastion that is South Texas. Just a few moments ago Democratic candidate, Bob Gammage left my office after spending two hours trying to convince me why he was the best candidate for Governor.

While talking to Mr. Gammage, Democratic candidate, Chris Bell called to schedule a dinner meeting later tonight. He too is hot on the campaign trail. Both candidates are rapidly trying to introduce themselves to the voters of Texas.

On this day, South Texas can be seen as the goldmine of all prizes when it comes to Democratic primary voters. Some believe that as goes South Texas, so goes the Democratic primary. Tonight after visiting with local politicos, both Bell and Gammage will be addressing the Rio Grande Valley Labor Council in hopes of receiving their endorsement.

Personally I have met both Mr. Bell and Mr. Gammage. Despite any partisan attacks made in this primary season, both are good Democrats.
