Drug Reform Resolutions for the Texas Democratic Party Platform |
|
I am attending a meeting in a few minutes that will be drafting resolutions to try to get passed at the Texas Democratic Party Convention. Anyone have any suggestions on resolutions. We got a medical marijuana resolution passed last year so me may want to see if we can go for a little more and include some other drug policy resolutions also.
Suggestions?

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.
In EVERY case, "Barriers to Trade" and "Restrictions on Corporations" were created to protect something valuable!

So we can get a hemp industry going down here. Biofuel, clothing, food, feed, all kinds of cool stuff can be made from it. Bad law prevents it now.

We met and talked about it and I've started but haven't finished. Of course, we have until the primary. I have started and gotten a few suggestions. Repeal of the drug provision of the Higher Education Act. Getting in touch with LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition) etc. Here is what I have so far:
Reforming Drug Policy to Enhance Public Safety
Whereas the "So Called War on Drugs" has failed to achieve it's intended goal of reducing drug use and in fact has created an environment that rewards drug dealers, endangers public safety and wastes taxpayer money,
Whereas the arrest and incarceration of non-violent drug offenders
(1) discourages drug abusers from seeking help for drug problems,
(2) diverts critical law enforcement resources away from violent and property crime enforcement, (3) endangers law enforcement officers engaged in drug enforcement operations,
