email from Lampson campaign - great news
Thank you! Our campaign to bring an end to Tom DeLay's era of corruption and cronyism had our best fundraising quarter yet thanks to you:

We raised $760,000 for the quarter ending 12/31/05 -- bringing us to more than $1.6 million raised since May.

Clearly, Nick is gaining support, while DeLay's support is collapsing.

In less than 8 months of fundraising, our campaign has almost $1.3 million cash on hand, while DeLay, with a full year of fundraising and many years' worth of favors called in, has a little more than $1.4 million in the bank.

We couldn't have done this without you. Nick Lampson has been getting support from Texans on both sides of the aisle who are embarrassed by Tom DeLay's unethical activity. And we're getting grassroots support from Americans all over the country who are tired of a Congress under Tom DeLay's leadership that is for sale to the highest bidder.

While Tom DeLay has been working every corrupt lobbyist and special interest group to come up with enough money to save his hide, Nick Lampson has been steadily building a list of more than 10,000 individual donors. The special interests and Washington lobbyists are not backing DeLay because he's a statesman. They are backing him because they know he can be counted on to turn his back on Southeast Texans for the right price. They are investing in his utter lack of moral character. And so far, they have not been disappointed.

Tom DeLay must realize things are going poorly because he has turned to blatant dishonesty to try and pull him out of the mess he created for himself. A few months ago, Tom DeLay infamously said there was "no more fat" to cut out of the budget. He actually said he'd fixed everything that needed fixing. Of course when his own traditional allies like the Washington Times, Grover Norquist, and Investor's Business Daily called him on it, he tried to backpedal.

And just Monday, Tom DeLay told Chris Matthews that one of his great accomplishments in Congress was paying down the debt, but in 2005, our foreign debt hit a record high. I wish I could say Tom DeLay was just confused. But, as you know, we are talking about a man with a clear pattern of purposely misleading Americans.

If you need anymore proof of Tom DeLay's dishonesty, he also told Chris Matthews that his luxurious golf outing in Scotland was paid for by a "legitimate conservative organization." Actually, soon to be convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff paid for it on his credit card. Abramoff may be conservative, but, like Tom DeLay, he is anything but legitimate.

Tom DeLay's corruption and dishonesty do not represent the values of law-abiding Texans. That's why every day, more and more people are signing on to help Nick Lampson win this election. They are tired of being embarrassed by their Congressman. They want a change, and change is what Nick Lampson will bring.

So, thank you again for your support! Now please invite all of your friends and family to join our campaign, as well. Together, we can put an end to an embarrassing chapter in our nation's history by removing Tom DeLay from Congress.

Sincerely,

Mike Malaise
Campaign Manager
Lampson for Congress
