TX-28: Cuellar sat on Republican side of aisle at SOTU

Lieberman wishes he'd thought of this:

For the speech Tuesday, Mr. Cuellar positioned himself along the president's route and grabbed a seat on the Republican side of the aisle. Custom dictates that the Democrats stay to the speaker's right and Republicans to the left, making it easier to gauge party-line splits on applause lines.

"Doesn't really matter," the congressman said. "It's the U.S. Congress side. I didn't see any sign that says Democratic or Republican."

Ahem: Ciro Rodiguez. Remember, whoever wins this primary wins the seat. There are no Republicans registered to contest the seat.

1. Oh really? He doesn't know what side to sit on?
What he's never been to a SOTU address and sat on the Democrats side? Well that would make more sense since he votes with the republicans quite a bit anyway.

5. I think he knows very well
AT least which side to sit on if he wants to get his cheeks pinched by El Jefe.

2. It cost him $12,000 to his opponent

A well-traveled photograph of U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar being embraced by President Bush before Tuesday's State of the Union address triggered a rush of Internet donations to one of Cuellar's Democratic primary rivals Thursday.

Within hours of a call to arms being posted on two liberal-leaning political blogs, the Daily Kos and Eschaton, former Congressman Ciro Rodriguez's campaign received 263 cyber contributions totaling nearly $12,000, according to ActBlue, a Web-based clearinghouse for Democratic candidates nationwide.

4. If you live in this district, VOTE FOR CIRO!!!!
I'm no big fan of Ciro's, but that's a personal thing. At least he's a REAL DEMOCRAT! Reverse the voter fraud of 2004, and get Cuellar's ass out of Ciro's seat!

6. Great campaign message for Ciro
"If you want a Republican, vote Republican. But if you want a Democrat, vote for Rodriguez"...follow up with Cuellar's record of carrying Bush water and voting against our party almost every time.

Costly embrace
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but President Bush's embrace of U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar before Tuesday's State of the Union speech has turned into a campaign windfall for former Congressman Ciro Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who is trying to win the nomination for the 28th Congressional District seat back from Cuellar in the Democratic primary, received more than $36,000 in 24 hours from Internet donors after two liberal-leaning blogs called readers' attention to the situation.

"Cuellar clutch" Doesn't that sound a little dirty?
