Any passionate pleas for one candidate or another for Ag. Commissioner? |
|
I'm leaning toward Hank Gilbert, but I remain open minded.
Likewise, in the Lieutenant Governor's race I'm leaning toward Ben Grant, but I could be persuaded.
Speak now or forever hold your peace because I will vote early.

3. The Victoria Advocate had a nice endorsement of Ben Grant: |
|
"BEN Z. GRANT honorably served Texas for 37 years, as a state representative, chairing the Texas House Judiciary Committee for six years, as a state district judge and as a justice of the 6th Court of Appeals in Texarkana. He also taught school and is a writer and playwright.
During his time in the House, Grant was a member of the "Dirty Thirty," which, for a time, changed the way that chamber does the people's business. This bipartisan group resisted corrupt Speaker Gus Mutscher Jr.'s ruthless control of the House. The Sharpstown scandal brought Mutscher down, and the Dirty Thirty, along with other reformers, passed a series of measures to clean up the political process and make state government more transparent.
Grant believes state government again needs a thorough clean-up and a recommitment to transparency. The influence of deep-pocket special interests in Austin underscore this need. Democratic voters should pick this distinguished veteran of public service to challenge Lt. Gov. David Dew-hurst in November."
