Dallas: Endorsement for Jeff Rosenfield for County Criminal Court #2

My fellow Democratic Precinct Chairs:

I’ve known most of you in a variety of political contexts over the years. One commitment I have had throughout my involvement with the Dallas County Democratic Party is to electing good Democratic Judges. I strongly believe that Jeff Rosenfield will be exactly that. As early voting begins, I wanted to briefly update you on his campaign, with which I have been working.

First and foremost, Jeff is well qualified to serve as a Judge of County Criminal Court of Appeals #2. This court hears misdemeanor cases such as driving while intoxicated and criminal mischief. Jeff has handled hundreds of criminal law cases, both misdemeanors and felonies in his 18 years of practice. The non-partisan Committee for a Qualified Judiciary has endorsed Jeff as qualified to serve as Judge of this court.

Second, Jeff has a plan to break the cycle of crime before it gets started by working hard with first time and youthful offenders to divert them from a path of crime before they have a chance to become repeat offenders and to commit even more serious crimes. Sometimes jail will be the right answer and in those instances Jeff will not hesitate to hand down such a sentence. This court has the power to sentence persons convicted of a crime to up to one year in jail. Often, however, carefully monitored probation will be a better choice and Jeff is committed to taking an active role in monitoring the status of probation cases in his court and intervening early to keep these persons on track to complete their probation and to go on with their lives outside the criminal justice system.

Third, and significant to us as precinct chairs, Jeff is committed to the Democratic Party and to taking on a role of supporting the Dallas County Democratic Party. For well over a year Jeff has been making the rounds of Democratic Clubs and attending/sponsoring such events as the DCDP Labor Day Picnic, the DCDP Fish Fry and the Stonewall Democrats Christmas Party. He’s been literally everywhere in Dallas County. This commitment to our party combined with his strong qualifications has resulted in Jeff receiving every major Democratic endorsement to date. He’s been endorsed by the Dallas County Young Democrats, Stonewall Democrats of Dallas County, Progressive Voters League-New Era (composed of precinct chairs from the 23rd Senate District) and the Mexican American Democrats, C.A.U.S.A Chapter. He’s been endorsed by Teamsters Local 745. And, he has been endorsed by more than 70 Dallas County Democratic Party precinct chairs.

Qualified. A plan for Judicial Excellence. A proud Democrat strongly supported by Democrats. That’s who Jeff Rosenfield is and that’s why I hope you’ll be supporting him in the March 7 primary.
