Austin folks-- dinner/drinks on the 29th?? |
|
reprehensor and I will be heading back from vacation that day.
Anyone know how long it takes to drive from Houston to Austin on a weekday-- on 290, I guess?
reprehensor and I were going to take 45 straight back to Dallas, but then I remembered the awful road construction near the reservoir.
And I also realized that we're meeting with my mom for lunch on the way down, but that would screw up any plans to meet w/Austinites on our way back...
So any Austinites want to meet up for a dinner/drinks thing somewhere on Thursday July 29th around dinnertime? Velma? David? Sonia?
Woo hoo?!! FSC

It's been many moons (since high school) since I've been that route, and it was on a bus, so I wasn't driving.
Gracias! FSC

2. FSC you bet we can meet ya |

I guess we should touch base when you leave Houston to let us know when you might be coming into town. We should try to pick a restaurant close to 290. Gives us time to think of some place. So are you staying in town on the 29th? Can't have you driving back to Dallas tired.

We may just switch and have me drive for awhile on the Dallas leg.
My mom's in Austin, but I really don't want to stay overnight (she and I have a really complicated relationship, and I'd rather not stay overnight with her). If we're REALLY pooped we may just get a hotel room.
I'm trying to think of some stuff near there. Some of these may not even be there anymore.
La Palapa, Baby Acapulco (I LOVE their Migas!), Ben's, (whatever's in the old Bombay Bicycle Club space there on I-35).
Ya'll PM me your cel phone numbers or let me get one and ya'll can spread the word down there after I call one person.
I'm definitely thinking dinnertime, since it's a weekday and I don't want you guys skipping work or anything. Since Ditti's been kind enough to provide driving time, we can find some groovy little places to stop on the way to keep us busy. Maybe Kemah or something.

I send FSC contact info for VelmaD and myself. Baby A's is fine by me if we want Mexican food and drinks near 290. We'll talk on Tuesday about FSC and reprehensor possibly staying overnight.

I'm personally very partial to Baby A's, since I haven't had their migas in many moons, and the margaritas do, indeed, ROCK.
Thanks for the info, Sonia. I'll begin storing trip info nearby so I have it all at hand when I need it.
