State Convention hotel
While the main convention hotel is the Hilton, there does not appear to be any rooms available. You can make your hotel reservations online at the Texas Democratic Pary website - http://www.txdemocrats.org/.

I made a reservation at the Courtyard Blackstone. It is just couple of blocks back of the Hilton and is not terribly expensive, but looks like it has nice rooms and high speed internet (a must!).

Where is everyone else staying?

You might want to make a reservation not before the options get slimmer. One of the options is 7 blocks away from the convention center and a few options are several miles away from the convention center.

3. I am very surprised that they are sold out.
It seems too early for that. I am wondering if the TDP has not "put a hold" on a block of rooms and we will need to book through some particular agency at a later date. Or are you sure that the Hilton is the "official" hotel? When I clicked through to the website and looked at "all hotels" as opposed to "available hotels" it was exactly the same group of hotels that showed up.

5. Thanks - I just made my reservation
at the Courtyard Blackstone. I had planned to make a reservation at the Hilton but it's apparently not available. The first hotel listed, which is across the street from the convention center, did not mention internet connectivity or I'd have gone with them.

6. Update on the Hilton
I did some research on this. The hotel at 815 Main is not called the Hilton, but it will be in June because it is being bought by the Hilton. http://www.radisson.com/ftworthtx. I sent in my form to the Party with the Hilton checked. I am waiting for a response. (and I hope I dont have to wait long)

"Registered as a national historic landmark, the Radisson Plaza Hotel Fort Worth has welcomed many famous and important guests. None would prove to be more significant than President John F. Kennedy and the First Lady, Jacqueline. Using the hotel as a backdrop, the young President addressed the thousands who had gathered to catch a glimpse of America's most popular political figure. His final speech came minutes later in the hotels's Crystal Ballroom where 2,000 attendees joined the President and First Lady for breakfast. In only a few short hours the hotel would go down in history as the place where President John F. Kennedy spent his last night."

9. I just registered for the Raddison, soon to become Hilton hotel
They have high speed Internet too. The net is wired in the rooms, but some rooms have wireless high-speed internet access. I put I wanted wireless access in my comments section.

I think staying in the hotel where JFK and Jackie stayed is not a bad thing. It's a celebration of their life.

13. Nope you're right - non smoking floor
I got enough fires in my brain right now. Can't afford to add more smoke in there. :silly:

But we'll walk each other home from those deep drinking caucus nights.

15. The Blackstone is soo cool. It is an old hotel that has been
redone..one of those old timey buildings with irregular tower like stuff, I think they called it like a ziggurat when the remodel was going on. Anyway it is cool.
If you find a place in the downtown area, it will not be a far walk to the Conv Center. The farthest hotel from the Center is the Worthington, just north of Sundance Square.

Think about it this way:

The courthouse sits on First Street

The Convention Center is around 10th.

The Worthington is around 3rd street, I think.

Walkable, very walkable...the rest of the downtown lodging is clustered near the Conv Center.
The hotels change their name plates every time you turn around it seems, I lose track of who is where.

16. Apparently the Hilton has been set aside
For the SDEC and higher-ranking aparatchiki so they won't be forced to mingle with the lowly delegates.

17. Atually that is very common and makes sense
They have meetings and it is easier for them to just go downstairs and get the meetings started. Its logistics only.

If you really want to stay in the Hilton, get your SDEC rep to reserve a room for you!

The only event being done there is the kick off event. That is open to everyone. (hell the SDEC meetings are open to everyone!)

18. I'm booked at Blackstone...
I'm in one of those disgusting smoking rooms, but if anyone would like to share, they are more than welcome. I've booked a two double-bed room. I'm an on again off again smoker, so no telling which mode I'll be in by June.

19. I think I'm going for the Courtyard Blackstone
If the website is correct, the Radisson is 7 miles from the Convention Center. I don't want to have to drive back to the hotel. After all, the whole point of staying in Ft. Worth is so I can DRINK!

Go for the Marriott Courtyard Blackstone if they've got rooms left. That's where ginbarn and I are staying.
