1. Unfortunately, Libby hasn't made that claim. |
|
It might be the case that Bush or Cheney authorized Plame's exposure. My suspicions still lie more with Rove. But Libby hasn't yet said that. We need to be careful in what we say about this case, lest we make the wingnut critics accurate, by taking one claim (Bush authorized some leaks of classified information) and turning it into another (Bush authorized Plame's outing).

I JUST RE-RAN THE NEWS TAPE AND IT SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT LIBBY FELT HE HAD THEIR APPROVAL. THAT IS WHAT HE SEEMS TO CLAIM AS HIS SOURCE! WILL WE EVER KNOW?

3. There are very strong indications of that, but not exactly. |
|
Cheney told Libby that Bush had approved Libby leaking parts of the NIE (National Intelligence Estimate) to Judy Miller. Libby (at least in the portionsof testimony we now know) didn't say anything about also getting the okay to leak Plame's idnetity.
However, it was during these same conversations about the NIE, Iraq, uranium, etc. that Libby told Miller all about Valerie Plame.
To try and argue that Bush okayed leaking the NIE but had no idea Libby was leaking Plame's identity stretches credulity.

I'll give you an opinion about this Bu$h debacle, but first may i ask you to take your cap lock off? It's considered shouting and i'm sure you don't mean to be shouting.
Now to the latest Bu$h mess, it appearers we have one or two of these a week here lately. All presidents have a right to declassify documents, and Bu$h isn't the first president to do this.
The problem as i see it, is the fact that Bu$h went on T-wee and stated he wouldn't tolerate people on his staff leaking. And he went on to say that they would find the leaker and deal with them Blah Blah Blah!!
I think this will be perceived by the american people, that this guy (Bu$h) can't be trusted. And in politics thats sudden death, and Libby's in hot water for laying to the grand jury, not for leaking V. Wilson name.

Well Lucky, we Texans are better known for our bull shit expertise. But a few are flat out lier's, and Bu$h 41 comes to mind.
Btw, welcome to DU. i believe you'll enjoy it here, i haven't been hanging here very long myself but i do find the folks here to be honest and very bright!
And i spent some time at Ft. Hood myself back in the 60's, still got that leeche dust in my nose.

srry bout the caps, keep hitting it for shift.i put rove as another who skirts the law, although he appears to be highly intelligent.i would more think he thought up this defense for libby. i doubt we will ever know the real truth; but i believe it was to counter "wilson"; hence probably was intentional.as "wilson " was anti-iraq war. still waiting for the rose pedals, the open arms and less than six months of occupation. or was that new orleans? i've heard so many fairy tales and excuses i'm not sure where they apply to.

And thank you for your service.
Listen we know bush and cheney and we know rove. They were all hatched politically here in the putrid waters of the TX GOP. While that does not excuse Libby for having no morals, I'm pretty sure he was following orders from the evil trio.
