Today. In Houston. And all across the USA.
Yesterday in Dallas, three hundred and fifty thousand -- no wait, maybe half a million -- people marched for immigrants' rights.

Because no human being is illegal.

Today. In Houston.

Join us.

1. Oh - I wish I could be there. Maybe if I get lots
of work done this morning, I'll head over after my lunch appointment.

5. You do realize that what they're asking for is open borders?
What is your position on that issue?

7. I think we should fine the Companies that hire illegals. They drive down
wages. They are pawns in the war on the middle class.

8. Why stop with the companies? Why aren't you suggesting that
we fine homeowners in California who hire them to mow their lawns?

9. Because I unlike the Corporatists do not wage war on people.
I do not blame the illegals for the situation they find themselves in. I blame the powers that be for creating those situations,

11. Well, then you are part of the problem, and not part of the solution.
I'll wager that homeowners in California keep more illegal aliens employed than any of our corporations. Do the math.

13. Opinions are like A$$holes. Everyone has one. Everyone thinks everyone
Else's stinks. If you think going after California home owners is the way to go, good for you. Is that your plan? You want to go after people and leave the corporations to reap all the benefits?

14. California, Texas, New Mexico...
Be my guest. I mentioned California so that you can see the problem on liberal turf and holistically. You can't go after corporations without seeing how you are contributing to the problem. That would be hypocrisy. What kind of success are you going to have debating your issue to conservatives when they can turn it around on you?

15. I do not hire illegals. You can not put that monkey on my back.
I never plan on debating with conservatives they lie. They do not debate. NeoConvicts do not discuss they repeat RW talking points as dictated by Rush and O'Liely.

16. It certainly puts a hole in your argument.
If you were to go after both, corporations and individuals who hire illegal aliens, you'd have a greater impact. Otherwise, go along with our 15 post Surgeon down below.

24. I apologize. But my point is made.
I see the greys which you are not willing to see. Maybe you haven't hired an illegal alien, but I know that world intimately so I can't pretend that it doesn't exist. For the first 13 years of my life my mother paid for a live-in maid for $75.00 or $100.00 a month. We were not well-off at all, but who can afford to walk away from that kind of help. We lived in a latin American country and that kind of arrangment was quite common. I grew up hating the exploitation, and it seems the U.S. government agreed with me, because when I turned 13 a new law was passed that we had to pay them minimum wage. Suddenly, everyone got rid of their live-ins. But, this was a military base we lived on, so it could be tightly regulated. Not so for those who lived off-base.

This is happening in the U.S. today, and if you want to walk away from it, go ahead. But I'll call you on your hypocrisy, every time.

25. If you want to make a point, Make it. Tell your story and have at it.
I am not responsible for the crap you have lived or seen. I am in fact working against the attitudes and conditions you claim to have such problems with. You are not going to make many allies if you keep on projecting your problems onto others.

Just because I believe the most effective way to deal with illegals is to go after the companies that recruit and hire them does not mean that I condone exploiting domestic labor.

All I can say is deal with your own shit first.

who hire illegals. To do one without the other is hypocrisy.

30. I believe that's a bad idea.
First, it requires employers to become law enforcement agents charged with determining the validity of the documentation presented. Outsourcing law enforcement is a BAD IDEA! And it would require an un-forgeable National Identification Card. BAD IDEA!

Second the employers would avoid risk by refusing to hire anyone with a Hispanic last name. It legalizes discrimination against Hispanics. That’s about 28% of the population where I live. And you would burden them with a more stringent requirement for proof of citizenship than the blonde haired blue eyed good old boy with the southern drawl.

When this was proposed twenty years (or so) ago, it failed because employers are a more important political block than the typical anti-immigrant block. This is still true, and such penalties will never come about. But if they do, beware of unintended consequences.

10. I think all this illegal/legal immigrant stuff would stop if we just
got rid of our borders (or at least their enforcement)!

Our border has done nothing but to divide the Mexican and American people. It prohibits many Mexicans from access to the land we stole from them!

Is there a reason why 20 Mexicans should ever be roasted alive in a trailer trying to sneak across? Without borders, there would be no shady human traffickers.

We should also get rid of the Border Patrol as they are nothing but racist brown shirt thugs. Their brutality is being financed by our tax dollars.

As citizens of the world, does anybody see any reason why we should keep our borders around?

17. All the border has done is violate the civil rights
of Mexicans. The installations along the border are monoliths of oppression to the Mexican people.

23. my thoughts, from the mouths of the Indigo Girls
My friends they wash the windows
And they shine in the sun
They tell me wake up early in the morning sometime
See what a beautiful job we've done

I say lets put on some tunes
Sing a long and dolittle all day
Go down to the riverside take off our shoes
And wash these sins away

And the river said
La la la it said shame on you
And the river said
La la la it said shame on you

I go down to Chicano City Park
Cause it makes me feel so fine
And when the weeds go down you can see up close
In the dead of the winter time

But when the summer comes everything's in bloom
And you wouldn't know it's there
And the white folks like to pretend its not
But their music's in the air

And you can hear 'em singing
La la la they said shame on you
You can feel e'm dancing
La la la they said shame on you

My friend Tanner she says you know
Me and Jesus, were of the same heart
The only thing that keeps us distant
Is that I keep fuckin' up

I said come on down to Chicano City Park
And wash your blues away
The beautiful ladies walk right by
You know I never know what to say

And they'll be singing
Oo la la la la la la la la shame on you
And they'll be dancing
Ooo la la la they said shame on you
Shame on you

Let's go road block trippin' in the middle of the night
Up in Gainesville town
There'll be blue lights flashin' down the long dirt road
When they ask us to step out

They say, we been looking for illegal immigrants
Can we check your car
I say, you know it's funny
I think we were on the same boat back in 1694

And I said
Oo la la la la la la la la shame on you
They'll be dancing
La la la I said shame on you
I said
Oo la la la la la la la la la la shame on you
Shame on you la la
La la la la la shame on you
I said
I said
La la la shame on you
Ill be dancing
And they'll be singing
La la la I said shame on you
Shame on you
