Why Alvarado Won
It's about the math and the Latino turnout. If Latinos will vote straight ticket, this could make a big difference for the whole ticket in November.

From Burnt Orange Report:

El Paso, Hidalgo, Nueces, and Webb counties accounted for approximately 1/3 of the statewide vote in today's run-off elections in the Democratic primary.

Here's the turnout from the 4 counties in both statewide races (U.S. Senate / LTG):

El Paso: 19,281 / 18,829 votes cast.
Webb: 18,123 / 18,253 votes cast.
Hidalgo: 17,979 / 18,159 votes cast.
Nueces: 12,741 / 12,909 votes cast.

Total of all 4 counties: 68,124 / 68,150 votes cast.

With a statewide vote over 207,000 in the U.S. Senate race and almost 205,000 in the LTG race, that means that approximately 1/3 of the statewide vote came from those four counties alone, none of which are named Harris, Bexar, Dallas, or Travis.

El Paso 78% Latino
Webb 94% Latino
Hidalgo 88% Latino
Nueces 56% Latino

1. Absolutely right muse
We have to keep the passion for change that is running high in the Latino community engaged. Our ticket has got to start talking things that matter to the community.
