1. I once went to a focus group and it was for cars |
|
I knew who was paying for that one. That was a long time ago and they mailed invites. I don't know how I was chosen. I hadn't bought a car recently or anything.
Please let us know how it goes and if you find out who paid for it.

2. I do a fair amount of focus work. A big part of what they'll be looking |
|
is not just how you feel but how you are able to express your views and how other people in the focus group react to your views and how you respond to various facts which they assume you don't know and which they will "reveal" to see if those facts affect your views on the topic.
I was asked to participate in a focus group once where we were asked about a utility raising seeking approval for a rate hike. I made sure I was one of the first people to comment and I used short phrases to communicate simple ideas (like "boycott" and "investigation" and "executive pay" and "conflict of interest") and many in the focus group picked up those ideas and repeated them through out the focus session. I'm not sure if the focus group had any effect, but the utility didn't seek a rate hike.
