Blogger's Caucus conflicts with our DU Caucus - same date, time and place
I got this off of TexasKos -

After much discussion on and off the blogs, we came to the conclusion that Friday afternoon wasn't going to work. There will be actual convention business during that time, and we don't want to pull anyone away from any caucus, event, or meeting they may want to attend.

So... here's the time and place:

The Texas Progressive Alliance presents the 1st Annual Democratic Blogger's Caucus
Friday, June 9, 9pm-midnight
Flying Saucer
111 E 4th St
Fort Worth, TX 76102 (map)

The Flying Saucer is conveniently located five blocks west of the convention site. For those unfamiliar with downtown Fort Worth, those are real short city blocks, so it's a five minute walk from where we'll all be.

We have confirmed more attendees:

John Courage - Russ Feingold's first "Progressive Patriot" and candidate for TX-21.
Paula Hightower Pierson - Former Arlington city council member and candidate for HD-93.
David Pillow - Candidate for Kent Grusendorf's old seat in HD-94.

Previously confirmed:

David Van Os - Grassroots favorite and candidate for TX-AG.
David Harris - Iraq war veteran and candidate for TX-06.

1. We had talked about this in another thread
... now having sunk down into the basement, I can't locate it.

Listen: this shouldn't stop anyone here from being there, should it? Won't we be having a caucus every night anyway? :toast:

4. I don't think so
Edited on Tue May-09-06 06:35 AM by muse
I don't think this has been discussed - with the thing being at the same place and time as our deal (this new date and time has only been posted online everywhere on May 8).

So, we'll be there, also?

The place will be over run with bloggers.

3. No speeches please!
Im not too interested in hearing anyone speak. I would rather socialize. and drink.
I am easy to please.

someone decide what to do. What is the blogger caucus going to do anyway? Blog about the caucus?

Can't the bloggers do their caucus online? :-)

5. I don't know about speeches, but I think there will be a lot of candidates
Edited on Tue May-09-06 07:56 AM by muse
When I read further on Texas Kos and also on BOR where it's posted, especially into the comments, it's obvious they are trying to round up every candidate they can get to be there - local races, whatever. They are blasting their invitation all over the place, so it should be a big event. Annatopia is organizing it.

Here's what she says:

This is shaping up to be a great event. Official invitations to current Democratic officeholders and candidates are going out this afternoon, and I'll do a massive post sometime next week with more confirmations.

If anyone reading this post has a special connection with any of these folks, please get in touch with me. I'm sure some of you might be able to get confirmations due to your existing connections, and with the event coming up in a few weeks I sure could use your help.

So, if you have a connection to a local candidate and want to get them in front of Texas bloggers, you might want to get in touch with annatopia.

6. Woo Hoo! Speeches, speeches, and more speeches!!!
Because the convention itself won't have enough!

Someone needs to invite John O'Quinn.

7. It also conflicts with
the Glen Maxey event, which will allegedly offer free beer.

There'll be lots of things going on that conflict ...
