Insider info from Saturday's Harris County GOP TX-22 candidate forum
From Fort Bend Now:

http://www.fortbendnow.com/news/1115/forum-organizers-like-talton-howard-in-race-for-delays-ballot-slot-wallace-says-he-wasnt-invited

Juicy news -

Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace says he wasn't invited. He also says he found out about it at the last minute. And, he says he has $1 million in committments for campaign contributions.

Two of the forum organizers are being blabbermouths and are saying state reps Robert Talton (ick) and Charlie Howard (ick x10) are emerging as front runners.

Another person who impressed them was Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers (of Nooky's Erotic Bakery fame). Meyers is under the delusion that he has name recognition all over the district. ??

A comment was made that City Councilwoman Shelley Sekula-Gibbs “is working harder than anybody” in the campaign. (Isn't that special. A+ for effort, Shelley.)

4. Ha! Glad you posted this PDittie!
Yeah, Haigler is a Talton supporter all the way. I'll be very curious to see which precinct chair is picked at Wednesday's Fort Bend precinct chair meeting. It will probably be Teresa Raia and I'm not sure how she is going to vote for The Chosen One. She gangs up with the social conservatives in the Rep. Party out here (there's another faction - the grassroots group). Even the Republicans out here make fun of David Wallace, but there is NO buzz about the other Fort Bender - Charlie Howard.

I think it's Thursday that Galveston and Brazoria meet.

And, the judge in the TDP lawsuit against DeLay might rule as early as Monday.

3. What about the judge's order?
Does this meeting mean that the court order was violated or does this squeak by as just a forum? OK so no decisions were made, but the judges did say "do nothing" until he ruled.

I agree that if someone will replace DeLay on the ballot Talton would be the absolute best wing nut representing their side.

I can just see the mailers using that sneer.

5. But there is no TRO
so the Republicans are claiming they can go ahead and meet. There is also the angle that his "don't take any action" command was aimed only at Benkiser, the chair of the TX GOP.

Interestingly enough, she was at the Harris County precinct chair meeting on Thursday!

I'm hoping we get a final ruling on the suit on Monday or Tuesday.

6. It's so cute that you think the GOP cares what some judge ordered....
Your bottomless cup of optimism inspires me.

9. Not optimism about GOP following the law
More like I just wanted to get them in trouble if they crossed that line you know.

10. Playing with fire
District Judge Sam Sparks has a hot temper. He's well known for it. If word gets to him about this meeting, he will likely be mighty unhappy that it took place. I would not want to be in the GOP's lawyer's shoes if that happens.

11. Cool insider info David!
Glad to know that. There is one in Fort Bend on Thursday.

I thought it was especially interesting that Benkiser had the nerve to attend the Harris meeting. Nothing like throwing it back in Sparks'face.

8. Wallace gets an I
for Imitating a Candidate Prior to Getting the Nomination due to his negative radio attack ad on Lampson.

Charlie Howard gets a double I for I for I Have My Head Up My Ass 24/7 and most Ineffective Congressman.

Andy Meyers gets an I for Inordinate Obsession with Nookie's Erotic Bakery penis and boobie cakes.

Did I miss any Fort Bend candidates?

All of the TX-22 Republican candidates deserve an I for Impersonating Tom DeLay.
