Did you get an email from Boyd Richie today?
I did. Here it is:

Dear Fellow Democrats,

I’m a grassroots Democrat from Graham, Texas. I've run and been elected as Young County Attorney as a proud Democrat in an area that some see as “Republican.”I’m living proof that Democrats can win all over Texas.

I’m asking for your support for State Party Chair so that, working together, we can win back the trust of Texas voters and elect Democrats who will once again put the people first.

More than anything else I want to thank you for your belief that we can make a difference, change the direction of our state and nation and end the corruption and cronyism of one-party Republican rule that’s turned a deaf ear to our children’s schools, our families’ health care, and our future.

I take the responsibility of serving as your State Democratic Chair very seriously because it isn't about me. It’s about us.It’s about equality and fairness, our faith in democracy and winning elections so we can make a difference in people’s lives.

I’m fortunate to have a great partner in life and in politics, my wife Betty. We know this job means we won't have many days off, and that’s OK. Because you see, we've never made a nickel working for campaigns, but our work has reaped rewards that money can't buy. Betty and I look forward to meeting you at the State Convention.Getting together with other proud Democrats is another reward money can't buy.

As your State Chair, it’s my responsibility to build a Party operation that provides campaigns and people like us the tools and resources we need to win those priceless victories.

From my brief service as State Chair, I can report that we’re already making some exciting changes and improvements in the way the State party does business. And as we move forward, I'll work every day to raise the funds necessary to build on that progress.

This brochure describes my five-point plan in detail.

The task at hand requires us all to work hard, raise money, fight less, and talk about the things that unite us instead of the things that divide us.That means we must treat each other with respect, and show the same respect to the voters whose ballots can elect or defeat our Democratic candidates.

No single individual can change the face of Texas politics, but we can.

No one person can revitalize our party organization, but we can.

No single organizing tool or message will sweep the Republicans out of office, but we can.

As your State Party Chair, I will keep working to bring people and resources together to build an organization that can win again. . . and AGAIN. . . AND AGAIN.

It won't happen overnight, but working together, we can bring Texas government back to the Texas people.
