So we're fighting for
"Family Values" and "Strong Morals" among other things...

Interesting.

4. Amazing, isn't it?
Maybe we should bring back the gold standard too.

I think this is what happens when the people in charge decide there's nothing wrong with the party.

...and tell me nothing is wrong with the party needs drug testing. Immediately.

3. Yeah some of those points
Can't and shouldn't be controlled in any fashion by the guvmint

Family Values are up to individual families to decide.
Strong Morals are nice to have, but you can't force a person to be moral.
and
Personal Responsibility is your personal resposibility.

7. I don't like it.
It doesn't sound like MY party. It's creepy. It's like invasion of the party snatchers.

8. I can go for that
If Family Values = respect & equality for GLBT families, children's healthcare, and women's rights...

If Strong Morals = taking care of our weak & vulnerable, honest stewardship of environment & community, fiscal trust...

Unfortunately those words are taken, buzzwords for an alien philosophy.

9. Sometimes they make it hard
to stay a Democrat. I support every candidate on the slate, but the buzz words they use are straight out of the right wing extremist fundy play book. This is just TOO Orwellian for my mind to grasp!

Except for the living wage, I have heard GWB support EVERYTHING on the list! So are we agreeing with him? Is he our candidate? What is the difference between the republican platform and the Democratic platform?

Is this really what Texas Democrats are working for?

This shows me a lot about why the Dems lose in Texas. We look like the Anemic Republican Party, not an ALTERNATIVE to the republican party.

Depressing.

10. This is why we have to go to the convention, particpate
and replace SDEC members that support this kind of crap!

11. Who writes this stuff?
Y'know, for those (like me) who essentially gave up on the state party after hearing Molly Beth publicly embarass Texas Democrats in radio sound bites, stuff like this ain't exactly the way to entice anyone. Plus, it's AWFULLY condescending to use cryptic phrase to support voting a straight ticket, ESPECIALLY in an election year with independents at the top of the ticket.

Is it too much to ask to get someone who understands a little about MARKETING in a position of control? Sheez. I don't have a vote at the convention, but somebody going PLEASE vote in someone with a little bit of sense.

13. There is more that I can do.
I used to contribute to my local Dem. Party until they became so complacent and ineffective that they were practically invisible. Then I shifted my donation to the state level. This year I am only donating directly to the candidates.

Some of our candidates are virtual icons of the progressive movement in the Dem. Party. They do not deserve to be saddled with a bureaucracy that thinks that the republican buzzwords are more important than ending the war and enforcing the Constitution, fixing regressive taxation etc. I intend to help BAR, Bell, and DVO achieve independence from the party bureaucrats by cutting the party out of the funding circle.

If they want my money, they have to refrain from sounding stupid.

OK. So you dont like what is posted. Rewrite it. See if you can come up with something that would attract voters and not alienate them.

Give it a go.

16. I stole this, but I cite my source
http://www.txdemocrats.org/about/

Texas Democrats stand for better public schools, access to affordable insurance and health care, an economy that produces more jobs at higher pay, a cleaner environment -- and a cleaner government.

We don't just stand for these things -- we're working day and night to elect public officials who will help us achieve them.

15. Did you notice?
Down at the very bottom it says "Produced and Printed In House"

If the Party distributes paper copies of this without the Union Label they may as well fold their tent and go home!

17. I thought "in house" was OK?
Sometimes you have something too small to send out to a union shop and you just run off copies right there... is that a problem?

19. You are probably right about the size of the job
If they only produce a few of these there will be no problem. But if they do some sort of mass distribution, like at the convention, there will be hell to pay!

20. I think that part of the idea
Edited on Fri May-26-06 01:09 PM by NoPasaran
Is that activists around the state can print and distribute their own copies.

On edit: Just as an experiment, I printed a copy and ran it through the Xerox machine. The red letters on the graphic disappear into the blue background.

18. Ethics Anyone?
Why our Texas Democrats not talking about ethics more? We whoop the Republicans ass on that issue. They're so crooked. It's really saddening to see Texas Democrats drop the ball like this.
