1. "PDittie and the Rev"
Sounds like a winning sitcom to me.

2. Wow what a great surprise!
Damn that was lucky!

:woohoo:

And you know I think PDitte and the Rev would make a great sitcom. They could discuss all the ways the bushes are sending this country to hell. To use the Reverend Jackson's own words "stay out the bushes".

3. It was a great surprise!
What really impressed me about it is that he didn't come until AFTER the party. There were only about 30 or 40 of us left. This wasn't about photo-ops or publicity. It was just him delivering his message to a small group of good dems and giving us a boost. He seemed pretty tired too. I'm sure he'd had a full day already, and it was 10:30pm. I thought it was nice of him to drop by.

I went by the church in West Texas City where he is speaking this morning, but the parking lots were overflowing and people were parked up and down all the streets. I figured I probably wouldn't even get into the sanctuary if I tried, so I didn't stop. I'm sure I'll read all about it though. It's a big deal for someone of his prominence to stop by our town.

I left a voice mail for my sister in law about it, thinking she might be interested. She is African American, but I didn't know whether or not she liked him. I just figured I'd let her know in case she wanted to attend. She emailed me and said she wasn't a "fan" of his. I replied:

"I wouldn't call myself a "fan," but he is definitely a figure of major historical significance, and the opportunity to meet someone like that doesn't come around that frequently, so I take advantage of it when the opportunity presents itself."

Honestly, she has kids of high school age and one just graduated. I would have thought she'd want to bring them to see him purely because of his historical importance, regardless of particulars one might disagree with.

4. I sent the photo to my mom and she was thrilled
despite some of the history with him. Then she told me to ask her the story about when she met Eldridge Cleaver! I guess I have a closet activist for a mom after all!
