MCALLEN LAUGHING STOCK OF STATE BECAUSE OF CORTEZ' "GOON SQUAD"
Via Pink Dome and Rio Grande Valley Politics we note the colorful politics of South Texas.

Seems as though Richard Cortez, who has been playing up his Republican ties (ie Tom Ridge and the gang) couldn't keep the negative attack campaign against Godinez (the Democrat) going before he brought out his own "goon squad" to beat up on poor young college students supporting his opponent. Here is the story.

Cortez is a one issue candidate: he hates politiqueras (translation: campaign organizers who help get out the vote). Sounds lie Rep. Denny. So when he noticed he was going to lose the race which ends on June 18, he brought out his own steroid enhanced politiquera "goon squad" and after beating the son of popular local state representative Aaron Pena and another college student their worker was charged with two counts off assault.

Cortez is the mayor of McAllen.

The others are probably also similar in that they are tied to the "rich".

2. Vote them out of office
They don't represent the people. I know that the Mayor in Mission, Norberto Salinas, is one of Perry's boys. Perry has appointed him to a housing board. So he's going to return the favor. I'm sure the others were also made similar offers.

4. Absolutely
What's going on is an example of cronyism and doesn't reflect the mood/will of the people. And they should be voted out.

5. I got an idea.
Lets get teachers, insurance policy holders, children off of CHIPS, someone dress as a park ranger, a farmer whos land is being taken away from him, someone who has been screwed by a builder, etc etc.

And get them together for a press conference to endorse perry. The farmer can say "The trans texas corridor will take away my land, but hey, it's free money!"
The homeowner: "My insurance rates have doubled, but it could be worse!"
The teacher: "Im paid $60000 a year less than the average, but I dont mind being used. I LOVE education!"

Get the idea?

Or we can dress like hookers and hold signs that say "Insurance lobbyist for hire".

6. well, at least someone else is in the exact same mood I am in today
Seriously, we need to point out the lunacy of people voting against their own interests.

This is muse's obsession of the day.

On a positive note. Nick Lampson was endorsed by the Sierra Club and I was at a press conference for that today. An authentic candidate. A great issue. A moment of sanity in a crazy world.
