Kay Bailey Hutchison editorial--letters needed!
Kay Bailey Hutchison just published an editorial in the Dallas Morning News, extolling the virtues of the Reagan tax cuts, and saying that Bush's tax cuts of 2001 and 2003:

"...halted the downturn in our economy. Since then, our country has enjoyed an extended period of low unemployment, high productivity growth and a favorable climate for investment. Over the last three years, tax receipts have increased nearly 35 percent, and the stimulus is continuing. In 2005, we had the largest single rise in tax revenue in American history – $274 billion dollars...Allowing these cuts to expire would erase years of economic growth and pass along an unfair financial burden to millions of hardworking Americans who form the backbone of our economy."

I can't wait until the airhead attempts to debate BAR, it should be very entertaining. Unless you happen to be a Republiclown, that is.

4. Just sent mine!
I thought nothing could make me laugh and cry at the same time quite like Sen. Hutchison's speech that poor and middle class people need the estate tax exemption bumped to $5 million.

But now, we get her DMN column about how the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy have created a wonderful economy. In truth, the cuts have created the largest budget deficit in our nation's history and the job growth under Mr. Bush has been less than 1% per year.

Three things remain true in our GOP-ruled slice of heaven.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and Sen. Hutchison remains totally divorced from reality.

Re: "Keep the economy growing; keep the Bush tax cuts," by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Monday Viewpoints.

Ms. Hutchison says the 1981 Economic Recovery Tax Act led to our greatest period of economic expansion but failed to mention that many provisions were never implemented and others rolled back by a 1982 tax increase.

In fact, the greatest period of U.S. expansion was bracketed by two Bush recessions, one for each. No points for guessing whose administration was in between.

In her effort to portray Ronald Reagan as a visionary, Ms. Hutchison said that he pursued a fiscal policy of deep tax cuts despite ridicule from ivory-tower economists.

One was Alan Greenspan, who, in the early 1980s, said that reducing the federal budget deficit would help make U.S. manufacturing competitive again.

I guess Ms. Hutchison will not ask the soon-to-be-out-of-work autoworkers for money or votes.

 :toast:
