Being a Californian in Texas, I sought to bridge the two states...with...
Phil Angelides' (Democratic Candidate for California Governor) Statement on the Passing of Governor Ann Richards:

"I am saddened today by the passing of a remarkable woman and an honorable public servant, Governor Ann Richards. While Ann will surely be remembered for her brilliant wit, her devoted public service will certainly be her lasting legacy.

"Ann Richards often said that she ran for public office to open doors of government to women. Ann broke down those doors, and she didn't stop there. Ann's diverse appointments in Texas opened opportunities for people of color, and her tough approach to her role as chief executive resulted in landmark reforms that saved money and improved Texas' schools and public services.

"America has lost a great leader, and Texans have lost a great friend."

2. I unfortunately can't make...
The 3.5 hour drive to UT from UNT (where I'm seeking my Master's in Environmental Science), but I will be watching WFAA at noon today.
