Delay admonished

The House Ethics Committee finally released its report about allegations by Rep. Nick Smith, R-Mich., that the House leadership tried to win his support for the Medicare drug bill last November by offering a $100,000 bribe. (In the end, Smith voted no.) The big news is that Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, admitted that he offered to endorse Smith's son Brad, who was running for Congress at the time, in exchange for Smith's "yea" vote on the Medicare bill. According to the Ethics Committee—more precisely, its investigative subcommittee—this is a violation of House rules and warrants "public admonishment." But it may warrant a good deal more.

3. Morrison v. DeLay
Richard's campaign is working HARD - but needs volunteers to show up, and of course $$$ for ads. www.morrisonfor22.com Spent the afternoon down there today, block-walking.

And re the Ethics Committee -- a slap on the wrist for trying to buy that vote still doesn't deal with the issues raised by the Chris Bell complaint. That complaint merits a full investigation.

Just wait, criminal charges have to be coming up. Rats will flee this sinking ship.

DELAY HAS GOT TO GO!

Keep in mind though, the only way it will happen is if we as constituents of this state, make our voices be heard along with our demand for justice to prevail and for accountability. The only way to make that happen is with hand written letters and phone calls to our Reps offices demanding a response and to keep the heat on our illustrious media in this "righteous state". Keep copies of everything you send.

I called Senator Byrd's office this morning to thank him and talked with one of his staff about the frustration of trying to make our voices be heard in Texas and by others who have Republicans for Reps in the House and Senate.

She said to inundate their offices with the phone calls and handwritten letters. Because we don't have much time on so much pending legilaton, she suggested phone calls and to be sure it is recorded, ask for the name of who you are talking to, tell them you would like to have a response from said rep. The staff member from Byrd's office said when you do that they have to respond (?). The more calls the better and she seemed to feel as though we have an opportunity to affect some change and to have our voices be heard.

Good luck.
