So.... I joined the Obama camp this weekend.
I singed up on the web, bought some t-shirts and a bumper sticker, and checked out the Houston Meetup group.

Any other Texans involved?

2. I'm going to get involved
I had been sending money to Edwards & then he got out of the race. :( I'm already on an Obama email list, so that's about the extent of my involvement right now. I'll do more after Super Tuesday. I'm on a "If he/she ain't coming to Texas, I'm not sending money" kick right now.

3. The presidential candidates will be in Houston 2/28
http://www.houstonspresidentialsummit.com/
The end of February may arguably be the most crucial time for the presidential candidates and their campaigns. Texas is rich with delegates for both parties and will play a large role in determining the nominee. An energy summit in late February will promote a meaningful dialogue for Texans and the nation to see prior to Texas' March 4, 2008, primaries.

NBC News and its cable news network MSNBC will broadcast portions live.

Tim Russert will serve as moderator. :puke:

Oh and if you can't afford that $750 full day non-member pricing, well too bad.

Actually you can still have an impact by participating in Public Citizen's Coal Block Campaign in Houston that same weekend. Conference, Movie and Rally info here:

6. We had a GREAT primary party at Buffalo Wild Wings in Rice Village!
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 01:40 AM by Lisa0825
Over 100 people RSVPd. Some came early, some late, so I bet at least that many were there overall, and at least 80 at the peak. It was a great diverse group - old, young, all races, familiar faces and newbies, etc.

An Obama volunteer said that FIFTY staffers would be coming to Texas! I am PSYCHED! It's amazing to think about being able to work for my primary candidate without flying to other states to do so!

Now we'll know what it feels like to be Iowans, but without all the snow. :)

8. I'm almost there
Still got a few issues with him, but considering the alternative ... :puke:

The party was fun. The earlier party we went to, for Michael Skelly at Cafe Adobe, was also pretty good.

9. I was going to vote for Obama
However, I just can't do it.
I will vote for Edwards in my primary.
It doesn't look as if either of the two candidates are going to acknowledge the grass roots (hence them deciding to debate in a Fox news debate).
Screw them, I say. I will vote my conscience and vote for Edwards.
He is the ONLY Democrat whose views align with my own and I am not going to compromise.
