Texas GOP asks for Noriega's military records
No doubt John Cornyn wants to compare Noriega's records to his. Only one problem - Cornyn never served! Let the swift-boating begin .....

3. They are despicable!
I can't believe how low they will go. So much for supporting the troops. Why doesn't Cornyn enlist to show how much he supports this war!

4. Who is Hans Klingler?
He he another Karl Rove protege?

From Noriega's P/R on his site
February 15, 2008

Mr. Hans Klingler
Republican Party of Texas
900 Congress Avenue, Suite 300
Austin, TX 78701

Dear Mr. Klingler:

This letter addresses your February 5 request asking me to supply you with a copy of my military records.

I welcome honest scrutiny of every aspect of my service. It's been my privilege to serve our nation for nearly 27 years in places like Afghanistan, and on the Texas border, and I fully intend to release my military records, subject to security review and updating of my most recent training and commendations, to the public. As I am currently serving as the Commander of the 1-141 Infantry, 36th Infantry Division and potentially subject to redeployment, I am not going to allow my family, my soldiers or my country to be put at risk as a result of your political games. You are welcome to view my military records at the same time as the citizens of Texas.

In addition, however, I am concerned that your intentions in this matter are not honorable. In the past, some Republicans have conducted dishonest and disreputable attacks on veterans. The most obvious example is the shameful 2002 assault on Senator Max Cleland of Georgia, a triple-amputee Vietnam veteran who was smeared with the accusation of being in league with Osama bin Laden.

These attacks on individuals who have put their bodies and lives on the line for their country are an outrage to all veterans, and they have to stop.

Way to defend yourself Rick! Thank you for your service! :patriot:

7. I have a question/comment about his current status as a Active military member
Do you think that the Texas GOP Cabal (( Cornyn, DeLay, KBH, and the rest )) have Noriega redeployed?.?.?

I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

Does anyone else know if this would be possible?.?.?

11. Ray McMurray asks for Noriega's military records?
BOR blog 2/19/08
Taking a Closer Look at Ray McMurrey's Campaign
1) McMurrey Asks for Noriega to Release His Military Records

This one really, really confused me. From the DMN blog, Trail Blazers:

Longshot Democrat Ray McMurrey, a teacher, said today he'll disclose all his employment records from 17 years with the Eagle Pass and Corpus Christi school districts. And he'll do it before the March 4 primary, he said, urging opponent Rick Noriega to act just as quickly in releasing military records.

Noriega had already agreed to release these records prior to this "urging." The releasing of records is not the issue -- Noriega's making a reasonable push about how Republicans want a look at these records to try and distort his military record. They've done it before. This was a point we raised not only on Burnt Orange Report, but on the front pages of Daily Kos. In a national race, Democrats realized -- strategically -- that it was right to stand up to Republicans and call them out early and up-front for this kind of ridiculous stunt. So why would McMurrey join with the Republicans with the stunt?

Why would McMurrey ask for Noriega's military records?
