Dean returns to Austin!
From the DFT website:
The hardest working non-candidate in America is returning to Texas just in time to rally the troops to get out the vote! Governor Dean will be in Austin on Tuesday, October 12, for a fundraiser benefitting the Texas Democratic Party and Democracy for America. Details are still being worked out, but there will be two events—one for $50 per person, preceded by a higher-dollar reception. Both events will be at Scholz’s at 1607 San Jacinto, probably beginning at 5:00.

Please plan to attend and show your appreciation for Governor Dean’s continuing efforts to help us take back Texas!

We'll update with more information as soon as we have it.

1. I am putting it on my calendar
I was just talking with Ms. Ashling today about how Howard Dean and Wesley Clark and Kucinich are out there for our team, but where are Gephardt and the others?

2. Send him back up to Dallas
I miss that guy desperately up here - we got the DVD of his July 2003 rally in front of Dallas City Hall.

3. Dean Fundraiser Canceled
But he was great on Letterman last night. I love the good Doctor. I'm sure we could raise some money selling his book if he autographed them. He should send us some copies quick.

Dean Fundraiser Canceled

Well, we did tell you he’s the hardest working non-candidate in America. The Kerry campaign requested that Governor Dean make an appearance on October 12, and so he’s had to cancel his planned visit to Austin. It would have been great to have him here, but I think we can all agree that if he can help John Kerry get a few more votes.....

Since this was the Governor’s only open date before the election, we’ll have to wait a bit for our next chance to have him here. But rest assured that Governor Dean’s and Democracy for America’s commitment to Texas continues.

More later in the week.

4. Damn!
Oh well, I'll console myself with the news that we kicked butt registering voters yesterday!

5. hell you have lots of consolation to support you there
Plus you could have a beer or more tonight at the debate watch party.

Did you tape the Dean on Letterman Show last night? I still have it on TiVo and can put it on tape for you. Dean was great, even with Letterman being so nosy.

8. More like a "work in progress"
As the DFT announcement said, But rest assured that Governor Dean’s and Democracy for America’s commitment to Texas continues.

Our organizsr Fran Vincent said last night "Democracy for Texas is an organzation for November 3 and afterwards. We're not going away."

Travis County Democrats are cooking up a big vat of whupass for the rethugs this fall. Much of the cooking has been done by hundreds and hundreds of grassroots volunteers, gathered around DFT and Austin4Kerry and the rest of our Coordinated Campaign. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of Governor Dean in these parts in the months to come.
