I got to meet Senator Kennedy last night!
Oh, how my parents are rolling in their graves. But I think they would understand. Anyway, I was one of the small group selected to be part of the welcoming committee, & for those of you who know my real name, let's just say the Senator got a kick out of it. "That's a name that sounds familiar to me." hee hee

With him was his wife, Vicki & his great-nephew Joe. Joe has very very very red hair. He is also very nice, smart, & a good speaker. He is very fluent in Spanish (although he speaks it with a Puerto Rican accent--he spent 2 years with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic), & I suspect that in a few years, he'll start his own career in politics. :)

I've got pics, but they're still in my camera. The Senator gave a rousing speech in support of Barack Obama & ended it by singing the entire song "Jalisco." It was great. BTW, if you see footage of "Jalisco" on TV, look for me. :hi:

It's amazing what we have organized here in just under one week. We are supposedly in Hillary-Land & I was dumbfounded by the number of local candidates running for office who have endorsed Senator Obama. :wow: While she might win in my county, it won't be by the ass-stomping numbers she assumed she would have.

1. Your comment about the red hair is interesting
I saw JFK ride by his motorcade November 21, 1963 in San Antonio. I was struck at the time by how chestnut red his hair was. Pictures I had seen before never did the color of JFK's hair justice. I guess the red hair runs in their Irish family.

2. yeah, who'd guess
Irish family + red hair. I'm of Irish descent as well. My uncle was a redhead & one of my cousins is as well, but dayum, boyfriend's hair was R.E.D.

11. Hey dg, just spotted you on MSNBC
They were showing a clip from last night and lo and behold there you were standing right behind Senator Kennedy, with a smile as big as the state of Texas, alright maybe not quite that BIG, but it is a big beautiful smile. Clapping, hooting and a hollering.

The clip was when Kennedy was singing, Jalisco.

 to you dg, and Senator Kennedy for his wonderful singing skills.

12. Yah, a friend of mine just called me
I've been getting the "Hey movie star!" all day, & who knows what I'll hear tomorrow? :scared:

Why am I cracking up? I am NOT cracking up at the Senator (in fact, EVERYONE was getting into that & it was very well-received)!!! I am laughing my ass off at my friend (the one holding the Si Se Puede sign in the still pic) next to me who is even more into singing Jalisco than he is, with the requisite foot stomping & stuff. I don't know why the camera never panned to her. She was very animated.
