TX exit poll: Clinton 41, Obama 38
Other 17% (presumably Edwards, Dodd, Richardson, and other presidential candidates who have suspended campaigns but remain on the Texas ballot) and Undecided 4%.

This outfit -- People Calling People/Texas Voyager (.pdf, scroll to bottom) -- used an automated interactive call to 408 respondents, self-declared Democrats who have already voted in the March 4 primary. The MoE is 4.85%, and calls were conducted between 6 and 9 p.m. on the evenings of February 26 and 27.

So it's a dead heat.

Neither Kuffner nor BOR, the real gurus for these sorts of numbers, appear to have blogged this yet so opinions as to validity, integrity and so on I'll leave to them and similar experts as to whether or not this is good data.

It seems to contradict the supposition that the "surge x 10" of early voting is driven by the Obama campaign. I suppose we will have to wait and see.

1. Do you stay on the line for automated calls?
I don't.

4. Neither do I.
If I don't hear a human voice within the first second or two, I hang up. For some reason I've been swamped with robo calls lately -- and not just from political candidates. I'm on the "Do not call" list, whatever good that does.

By the way, I voted for Hillary and my friends are doing the same. However, if Obama is the candidate in November, we'll all support him. It's nice being in such a win-win situation.

5. We're on the do not call list, too,
but we get several calls a day from people wanting to extend our vehicle warranties.

I usually don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, but I want to be polled for political races, so I've been answering.

Today, I got a poll asking me the following:

1. Do I have a favorable opinion of Pres. Bush? NO!

2. Do I have a favorable opinion of Gov. Rick Perry? NO!

3. Do I consider myself a Democrat? YES!

4. Do I have a favorable opinion of Sen. John Cornyn? NO!

What a fun poll!

3. I voted early this morning.
Of the people there, most were voting in the Democratic primary. Apparently, Hillary is doing well here.

6. Wow. It's close. That's bad news for Clinton, whether she wins or not. She needed to win big.
But it's nail biting how close many of these primaries have been, including .... TEXAS? Who'd have thought TX would be close? I didn't. I hope the nomination process is over soon.

8. Phone poll, not an exit poll
I wouldn't call this an 'exit poll' since it isn't taken of people walking out of early voting locations.

Also, 408 respondents is a pretty measly number for a random phone poll. I wouldn't put much stock in this.
