Help! My sister in Dallas needs some answers!
My poor sister has been so wrapped up in family/work stuff she is completely unprepared for the Texas voting proceedures. So I am asking a few questions on her behalf:

1) If she did not vote early, can she still caucus tonight?

2) Are both the Dems and GOP caususing?

3) Can she vote for one candidate and causus for another?

4) Is it true she has to causes at the place she voted??

Many thanks for your help!

1. I'll give it a shot

1) She can caucus so long as she voted in the Democratic primary election, be it early or today.

2) Both parties have precinct conventions tonight, but only the Democrats caucus.

3) She can caucus for whomever she chooses. It need not be the person she voted for.

4) Depends, but usually. I'd ask at the place she votes just to make sure of the location. She can also check here: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/txlookup This seems to work for some and not others, though.

5) Not asked, but here's how to find where her polling location. https://voterinfo.sos.state.tx.us/voterws/viw/faces/SearchSelectionPolling.jsp

2. Some answers

1. If she didn't vote in the primary she cannot caucus tonight. She must have voted in the primary by either voting today or early.
2. Only the dems caucus.
3. Sure no one will know how she voted in the primary, she can caucus for someone else.
4. The caucus should be at her precinct. The polls workers when I voted were very helpful when people asked where to caucus.

3. ok...here goes
1) you must vote in the primary to caucus...either early or today

2) yes, but not together...we don't have to deal with the gop tonight :)

3) yes, you can...but most people don't do that. It's up to you. I say most people, because folks are usually passionate about their candidate.

4) in early voting, you can vote anywhere (in your county, i think)...but for TODAY, election day AND the caucus....you must VOTE AND CAUCUS at your EXACT precinct location

https://voterinfo.sos.state.tx.us/voterws/viw/faces/SearchSelectionPolling.jsp

caucus will start at 7:15 sharp or after the last voter in line has finished voting in the primary, no matter how late.

hope that helps

4. Here's my understanding
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 06:01 PM by MagickMuffin
1) She MUST vote in the primary, get her registration stamped and at my precinct they also gave me a slip of paper with my name on it

2) Yes, but the GOP is not a caucus

3) Yes, but why would she want to do that?

4) Yes, she should caucus wherever her polling location is

Good Luck, to your sis.
