If there are less voters at precinct than delegate slots for that precinct... |
|
We then just nominate ourselves multiple times, right?
Our precinct has 12 delegate slots. If there are less than 12 voters there, we just fill in the slots with ourselves or whoever volunteers, even the latecomers if eleigible - then it gets worked out at county.
I think this is correct, but thought I would check out the logic here.

1. My understanding is that you can be nominated only once. |
|
However, you may fill those remaining slots with any eligible voter (e.g. one who voted in the Democratic primary in your precinct) whether they are in attendance or not. However, you will need contact information for those people so the county party can send them a reminder to show up at county.
All delegates must be selected at the precinct convention. No taking the forms home and filling them out later.

2. My question is only if there are less eligible people than delegate slots... |
|
I was just running through scenarios, because we just found out there is no perm chair. It seems pretty straightforward, but that scenario then stumped me - we are a small precinct, so it is possible.

the permanent chair is elected at the convention. The precinct chair is the temporary chair who also appoints a temporary secretary.

you nominate and send everyone that wants to go to the Senatorial/County convention. At the Senatorial/Convention, even if you don't have all delegate spots filled, you can still vote the full strength alloted to your group. For example, if your precinct gets 10 delegates to the Senatorial/County convention and you can only elect 5, then when you get to the S/C convention your voting strength is still 10 and everyone has in effect 2 votes.
You can also nominate and elect someone that did NOT attend the precinct convention as long as they voted in the Democratic primary.

5. I guess I am not being clear - IF there are not enough people there. |

If there are enough, it is easy.
If not, there is no way I know extra people in my precinct or could determine whether they voted in the primary. If there are 6 of us, I will ask that anybody call to get a friend or relative, and bring their card.
I guess I just have to hope at least 12 folks show up - that is how many slots we get.;)
Thanks for the info, GMan!

will have a list of people who voted early
you can get that list to check for people if they don't have their voter card, or only bring a picture id or a phone bill, for instance.

7. Ah, great idea, MrsBrady. That is a solution for checking out their credentials. |
|
Still have to find em, but yes, this helps.
If enough people show up it won't even come up at all anyway. This is just me getting nervous!
Good luck to all in getting perfect counts!
