Does science commit suicide when it adopts a creed? What happens when dogma drives scientific inquiry? In this program, Daniel Barnett explores recent attempts to merge the physics of the universe with the metaphysics of the unknown. His lecture will include the underlying principles of homeopathy, the origins of the Nazi German concept of Aryan supremacy, and the "Flat Earth" movement of John Alexander Dowie and Wilbur G. Voliva. Recent trends in popular culture will also be discussed, along with the correlation between science and imagination.
