120 pages! We do have some people in my county that might have filed challenges too. I don't know this yet for sure but I did hear a rumor.

Now I'm sitting here wondering if I made a mistake or if I bit off more than I can chew. Like my attempt at local party building by contacting all the delegates on both list to make sure they planned on attending. My intention was to keep them all involved in the process. However, some of the delegates from my candidates oppositions side got a bit upset by it, and I'm still short three on their side after calling all the alternates. If not for the fact that I was very lucky in finding their candidates county coordinator to take over I'm pretty sure they'd have blamed me if any were missing on Saturday.

Perhaps, in all my excitement and enthusiasm from meeting so many new local Democrats, I went temporarily insane?

1. Being on the Credentials committee is like the chickens and hogs and breakfast
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 09:41 PM by Gman
the chicken is "involved" with producing eggs, but the hog that produces bacon is committed! People can be involved on any committee, but anyone that agrees to be on Credentials is nothing short of committed! My hats off to you.

2. LOL! I'm going to have a long day on Saturday, aren't I?
I have a feeling that being "committed" is exactly what I'll be ready for the time Saturday afternoon rolls around.

Next time my county chair calls I'm not answering!

3. I think your attempt at keeping everyone involved was good.
Some people need to take a chill pill.

Which might be a good idea for you for Saturday. Take a flask or something. :D

7. ITA on the hard liquor
God knows, we're going to need it.

I just about died when the county chair told me that no challenges were filed in my county. :wow: With all the bad blood going on I was sure we'd be up to our eyeballs in complaints, major and minor.

10. I hope to find out about the challenges today.
If we don't have any (please, oh, PLEASE!) then that will make this go smoother.

24. Oh dear
I just heard I'm supposed to show up to do this. I wasn't on the committee. Maybe I can just point people in the right direction to the tables where people know what to do.

9. Thanks for the vote of confidence
I've been reading up before we meet tomorrow night trying to get my ducks in a row. For some reason, though, I keep having visuals of a sheep being led to the slaughter.

6. There was a 5:00 PM deadline for filing challenges
I did the Obama voter protection training for the credential committee process. We have two challenges filed by Clinton supporters and there were a couple filed by Obama supporters. Our credential committee meets on Friday night. It should be fun

8. That was 5 PM yesterday, correct?
They had to be filed by 5PM 3 days prior to the convention from what I read.

I'm calling my County Chair today to see if we're in the clear.

11. Yes
Challenges must be in writing & turned in the party chair no later than 72 hours before the convention. So if none were turned in, none need to be sorted through.

12. I heard that we have four or so deal with
My SD chairman told me that we have four or so do deal with and none were too material other than a major math screwup by one precinct. I will be at the credentials committee to observe on friday.

15. If I'm not crazy now I will be by the time Saturday is over.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 11:40 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
I got suckered into this. My County Chair called me and he asked me so nicely I couldn't say no. After all the poor man has been though in organizing this convention it seemed the least I could do. It wasn't until after he hung up that I began to realize I'd been played. He's good. Damn good!

I'm also our precinct Delegation Chair and I'm helping set things up before we begin. While it hasn't been officially announced yet, I think I may also be the person cleaning the bathrooms when the convention is over.

16. BTDT,
So far this week I've done a bit of fundraising, a lot of delegate wrangling, and the seating chart for the convention. That last, actually, was a lot harder than it looked!

Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 12:01 AM by Lone_Star_Dem

We're not going to have enough seating We couldn't get a big enough location to fit our masses. All the halls in town were already reserved for other events when our CC started trying to book something bigger than we usually use.

I've managed to wrangle extra chairs, but we're still going end up with people standing.

he's got a lot of prima donnas on the hillary side to keep happy.

But yeah, I'm kinda in that "Oh god, what did I get myself into now?" mode. My credentials committee meeting starts in 2 hours, & that's with NO challenges. eek!

We did a lot of God's work! :)

We have lots of bullshit gender balancing challenges -- absolutely no basis and uniformly shot down.

I'm not complaining anymore about my experiences. We had a few minor issues tonight, but nothing like what you witnessed.

I'll expound more after Saturday when I'm more comfortable giving a personal opinion.
