Despite the logistics and problems dealing with the huge participation and yes some infighting - we got it done.

2. Mixed blessing for me... |
|
Good news: I served on the Resolution Committee. It was a pleasure working with Tom Blackwell and everyone on the committee. That rocked. Also, I got to entertain the Senatorial Delegates with a political fable while waiting for the remaining committees to issue their reports.
Bad news: Our Delegation Chair ran a fairly disorganized State Delegate selection process, and had to be supervised by some of our precinct veterans to make sure everything was on the level. In the end, neither ginbarn nor I got chosen as a State Delegate (or even an Alternate), so we filed our At-Large papers and now must wait for the results.

3. I applied for at-large |
|
But I doubt I get it. I might volunteer so I can go to State. There was a woman in my precinct, an Obama supporter, that's thinking of doing the same.

4. Volunteering is a thought, too... |

I'm supposed to run a caucus up at State, so I darn well better find a way to get up to Austin.

6. Yes Tammy please do volunteer |
|
There are many Austin DUers and if we need to step up and host people in our homes we will. If you are volunteering and want to save a little money, I'm sure we can find you a sponsor home. I offer my humble abode. If you need it you just let me know.

My dad's sister lives out in Round Rock and I know I could stay there, but then I was thinking, well there are long nights and I wouldn't want to impose on her
I was very energized yesterday. The other lady thinking about it was very pumped too.

I don't think we are absolutely sure where the convention is going to be, but it will be downtown somewhere. You and your friend are both welcome. We have one extra bedroom and a couch. One extra bathroom.
I pm you my contact info.

You just come to Austin. You need to be here. Don't worry about hanging out in your SD, come join ours. I'm only an alternate so I won't get to vote either. We will make you feel like you are on the winning side. We can show you lots of love. Please don't let this get you down.

11. I made it as a delegate for Obama, Now who wants to be a host for me and hubby?.?.? |
|
As of now we are cash poor.:(
We could possibly cook dinner for the host/hostess. We have a diverse cooking repertoire, Indian, Mexican with a flair for the exotic, Middle Eastern: (hummus, baba ghanouj, tabouli) Soy Chicken pot pies, cupcakes, cookies, mini fruit pies. Yum YUM.
Just let us know soon so I know if I need to make other arrangements, we have a couple of business associates, but not sure about having to ask them to intrude on their lifestyle.
Also if someone wants to host us let me know in advance so I can plan out the meals and prepare them before I leave.
I will probably drive down Thursday morning, Sweetie is considering taking the train and will come down Friday.
We are really excited about everything we have accomplished this year.

I've asked GOPisEvil to call for an Austin bruch sometime soon and we'll see what we got in terms of Austin DU housing and do some sponsor/guest housing match.
Don't worry about it, we'll take care of you.

15. I'm a delegate for You Know Who |
|
And now that the convention is over I feel at liberty to say that the out-of-state Clinton staffers they sent here were a bunch of totally clueless numbnuts. We would have had a better result (or certainly no worse) if they had been eaten by bears.

We love you Gothmog but I like Obama just fine, we don't need an alternative for him.
I know your tired - I know exactly how you feel. I'm an alternate right along with you. Maybe we'll get to see you at the convention. Hope you decide to come to Austin in June.

21. Well, I didn't go. Couldn't really. |
|
I wasn't a delegate for either candidate, and I don't really want to be. Plus, I didn't want to show up and try to be an "at-large" uncommitted delegate. So, I stayed around the house and got A LOT of stuff done that helped me take today off and do the Capitol 10K.
HOWEVER, since I live here in Austin, I will DEFINITELY be around for some of the festivities. Not sure if I can take the time off to volunteer at the convention, but I'm considering that.
If someone needs a place to stay, let me know. I've only got a twin air mattress and some couches, but the roof doesn't leak and the a/c works. ;)

First of all good for you for doing the Capitol 10K. Hope that went well for you. :applause:
I knew you would step up and help our out of town DUers too. Maybe us Austin DUers should consider a long overdue brunch and see what kind of housing opportunities we can offer other DUers coming into town in June.
Since we consider you the Mayor of the Austin DU Semi-Regular Sunday Brunch - what date do you suggest we gather?
