Greg Palast in Austin "Bush Family Fortunes" Tuesday 10/7
Award-winning investigative reporter Greg Palast will appear live and in person to present his new film, BUSH FAMILY FORTUNES: The Best Democracy Money Can Buy on Tuesday, October 12th, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. at the Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas. After an introduction by Mr. Palast, the screening will be followed by a Question and Answer session.

This 70-minute documentary investigates George W. Bush's climb to power and the circumstances surrounding his election as President of the United States, including his family connections to the Saudi government and the 2000 Florida election results. Currently reporting for BBC Television, The Guardian of London and The London Observer, Palast's extraordinary reports have been front-page news in Europe, yet blocked out of mainstream media in the United States.

"As an exiled ex-pat writer for the UK's Guardian and Observer newspapers, Palast has dug deep into stories that American armchair journalists barely scratch at. While every hack from Tom Brokaw to David Broder were discussing chads and vote counts, Palast had already proven with written documentation and statistical analysis how Bush stole election in Florida long before a single vote was cast."
- Bully Magazine

Tickets to Bush Family Fortunes at the Paramount October 12 are $12 general admission and are available online at www.startickets.com; at Star Ticket outlets including Albertson's and 512-469-SHOW (7469); at the Paramount Box Office Noon to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and at the Paramount Box Office the evening of the screening.

1. So who's going to this?
It sounds interesting and I'm up for it if the rest of the Austin Duers are. :)

3. I'm going
I too have many things to do but I need some motivation too. I have some block walking to make up this week too. Plan to get it in before the showing on Tuesday.

Then there's the final debate watch party on Wednesday. This election cycle is going to kill me.

6. Welcome to DU Terry!
It should be fun. Greg is a very good speaker plus the film will be a good motivator for us to keep on working through Nov. 2nd.

7. Great little documentary
Pretty decent turnout. Palast even sat next to me in the theater when the documentary got started. I bought the DVD and got him to autograph it if anyone in Austin wants to borrow it.

Many African-Americans in the audience. Alex Jones was in the house (talking a bit too loud). Alex does not need a microphone to be heard.

There are some viewing house parties this weekend.
"Bush Family Fortunes" House Parties

Next Friday, October 15, we will be holding "Bush Family Fortunes"
viewings. So far we have learned that the word "party" does not have
to involve a huge bash-it can be as easy as having a few friends over
for quality company and conversation -- and in the meantime, not only
remind your friends that there are lots of us out there, but also to
help raise a little much needed money for the 2004 Travis County
Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign.

Conference call with Greg Palast
During the film, you will also be able to Instant Message your
questions for Greg to be answered during the conference call!
