Do's and Don'ts of the Texas Democratic Convention. A practical guide.
For many of you how have not been to the Texas Democratic Convention before, here are some tidbits of information and some do's and dont's of what to do and not to do.

1) Bloggers Party. If you are going to be at the convention on Thursday, DO NOT miss the bloggers party! The party begins at 8:30PM Thursday, June 5, 2008 at The Cedar Door 2nd and Brazos Austin, Texas. We have the entire place to ourselves! It is one of the best parties of the convention! And it is FREE!!!!

2) Have fun. This is going to be a very fun event. So enjoy it. We are making history!

3) Do NOT boo during the convention. If you have the urge to boo, save it for June 12 in Houston. That is the republican convention. You can boo there. Again, be respectful, DO NOT BOO!

4) Attend a Caucus. There are many different caucus set throughout the weekend. Find one you are interested in and attend. Network. Make contacts. Be productive. Whether it is women's rights, consumer, technology, grassroots, Ethic, find one and attend. Make the most of your time!

5) Party! Attend the parties after the speeches on Friday and Saturday. Look around for the parties. Usually the candidates will have one. Some will have hospitality suites with free food and drinks. If you attend one, make sure you meet the host and tell them you are working for a local campaign.

6) Sign up! After the convention, find your local candidates, (in SD11 Joe Jaworski, Sherrie Matula , Joel Redmond, Nick Lampson) and volunteer for their campaign. Remember your participation in the Democratic Party begins when the convention ends. There will be no change, unless you participate in some way whether block walking, phone banking, volunteering at the HQs, etc.

7) And Do Not Forget. Have fun! We are making history this year! This is our time!

1. #3 is especailly important
Let's be respectful out there. I totally agree that booing is in bad taste. If you don't like the speaker - leave a convention floor hall for a bit. Stretch your legs, go to the bathroom or go get food. Let's keep this convention civil for all Democrats.

5. With one very important exception...
If any Democratic speakers mentions a member of the Bush administration or a particularly loathsome Republican candidate, boo until your heart's content.

2. I'll be interested to see if #3 holds up if Hillary speaks on Friday
as rumor says she's supposed to do.

3. Well I won't be booing her
And I'm sure the official word coming from the Obama campaign will be to be respectful. I can promise that in our SD25 the word will go out to show respect. If anyone from any other SD here on this board can do the same to get the word out in our caucuses at 3:00 we should be able to have a civil convention.

4. I've no doubt about that
as you're often the voice of reason when things get crazy. I hope everyone else would do as well.
