1. No
No, I won't sign. The Texas Gulf Coast has been drilled by oil companies and trawled for years by shrimpers and outside of some treasured spots like the Flower Garden, the bottoms have become very unnatural landscapes. Further, what a lot of parlor greens fail to realize is that abandoned Gulf Coast oil drilling platforms are havens for reef fish in otherwise barren bottoms. I've met people who scuba off some of those platforms and I've seen their photos.

Moreover, like most other coastal waters, the Texas Gulf Coast has been badly overfished by commercial fishermen and lots of species have been decimated not only by fishermen seeking those species in particular, but also as bycatch by fishermen seeking other fish or shrimp. Short of "no-take" zones, which are badly needed, areas where commercial trawlers can't go are good things for fish species' survival.

2. I'm with you
It is possible to explore and produce oil and natural gas in an environmentally safe manner. That is what we should be supporting.

Ending offshore drilling is cutting off our nose to spite our face.

4. Oooookay.....
Interesting flock of responses.....

I am interested in the arguments for offshore drilling - thanks for the info.

Nevertheless, what is going on right now is BushCo trying to hand their oil buddies more goodies, even as they are not using all of what they've already got.

I, for one, at want to call a halt the the stampede, at least for now.

That said, I knew it was pointless in any interpretation when I posted it, so I apologize for the waste of time to those of all persuasions. Live and learn.
