Tarrant County Democrats elected 41 new Precinct Chairs

At the DEC meeting tonight 41 PC's were elected to become PC's. Of course there are WAY to many still vacant.

I took the plunge and become the PC for my precinct.:woohoo:

Last Sunday I took the time to create an excel file of everyone who voted in the primary and caucus, so I would be somewhat ahead of the game. Now I just need to contact some of them to help me organize my precinct.

Now the work begins.

2. I was apprehensive about doing it, believe me

but this election IS so important. My precinct's last chair didn't do anything to get our precinct organized, so I thought this would be an excellent opportunity to rally Democrats to get involved in the process.

We met great Clinton delegates through our SD convention and built a good relationship with them, so I will be calling on them to help me. I'm also going to be an Obama Captain and have been going to all the Tarrant Obama meetings.

I'm not really a people person, BUT.... I have to overcome my shyness and really work on my people skills. I have met some amazing people already.

I'm hoping to reach out to people this weekend since I am officially a PC.

There are a lot of groups willing to help with support. All I have to do is ask for it and they claimed they would be there for me. We'll see if they follow thru.

Now the fun begins.

There are still a lot of vacancies that need to be filled. Hopefully TCDP Hqs. will be able to get more PC's appointed before November.

7. You should get access to the database

If you are a PC you have authority to get access to our database.

All of our caucus go-ers are identified. It is a real swift database.

8. Are you referring to the VAN?.?.?

I went to the website and printed out my application. Will drop it in the mail on Monday.

I do have the paperwork from the Precinct Convention/Caucus. I served as the Permanent Secretary. I already have an Excel file that I created to get me started.

It will be interesting to see what info they have on my precinct.

Hopefully I'll be able to access the VAN later in the week. Can't wait, as this will be a valuable tool to access.

9. If you learn how to use it, it is GREAT!

Take some time to learn how to EFFECTIVELY use it.

You have every registered voter in your precinct. You can create a list of all those who voted in the Democratic primary with phone numbers etc.

You can add info to each voter like cell number, email address, notes, etc.

you can create a call sheet, a robo dial list, a walk list, and even create a virtual phone bank.

It is pretty good once you learn how to use it.
