I found a new job for more pay but more importantly, I'm making my break from Abilene, TX...one of
the most conservative cities in the country.
I've been telling my friends that I'm too old to fight anymore and when a liberal in Texas gets too old to brawl he should move to Austin so he doesn't feel the need so often.
I'm a bit nervous about the big changes ahead but I've got my apartment leased, I've got my job, and I'm rarin' to go!
My wife and daughter will remain behind for the first year so my wife can finish some training she's started, but we used to be a Navy family...it's just like going to sea again only with
this cruise there'll be occasional visits.
I've been feeling badly hypocritical (and called out on it) for living out in the sticks and commuting 17 miles into town every day while trying to convince the rock-ribs around here about global warming and the evils of Big Oil. I've got my mail-order CapMetro bus pass now. Ride to work 31 days for 10 bucks?! Goodbye, hypocrisy and my $150 dollar a month gas tab and hello, a soon-to-be much smaller carbon footprint!
Hell, I ain't ancient at 53 but I feel like a kid again. I'm even up for a bounce...
:bounce:
Wish us luck, 'kay? :toast:
