Ike: Mobile Congressional Office |
|
E-mail I received from Nick Lampson--
I am pleased to announce a mobile congressional office located at American Legion Post 490, across from Ellington Field, open tomorrow and days thereafter from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
Here residents will be able to report claims of hurricane damage with FEMA, request loans from the Small Business Administration, and begin the process of receiving funds to repair damage. This truck will be operational tomorrow and will provide 225 laptop computers with internet connectivity and 225 cell phones.
While you may already have power and do not need this form of assistance, I encourage you to tell your friends and family throughout the Houston area about the availability of this mobile office. Many victims of Hurricane Ike are being told to call or go online to register claims, but this is impossible for many because power is not available. Some estimates indicate that it could be up to three weeks before the Houston area regains full power.
This is the Chief Administrative Office's (CAO) ONLY mobile communications truck, so I am glad these resources will be made available to us and placed in our backyard. I requested this unit before the storm from House of Representative's leadership and the CAO, urging members to consider our central location and surrounding communities when deciding the location of this critical command center.
Please take advantage of this invaluable resource. My staff will be on hand to help you through the FEMA claims process. DATE: STARTING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2008
TIME: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
LOCATION: American Legion Post 490, 11702 Galveston Rd. (State Hwy 3), Houston, TX 77034 (Across from Ellington Field)
PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: - Social Security Number - Description of losses caused by disaster - Insurance information - Directions to the damaged property - A telephone number where you can be contacted
Sincerely, NICK LAMPSON Member of Congress
