Ike Fact or Fiction: Clearing the Hurricane Ike rumor debris

We're not sure if it's the lack of access to media, no-A.C.-induced delirium or simply boredom, but now almost one week removed from the initial strike of Hurricane Ike it's the rumors that are swirling.

Are there giant cats roaming Bolivar Peninsula? Did a man survive 17 hours in the Gulf of Mexico? How many mosquito bites did that guy get in Galveston?

We'll be researching these claims and posting them here. If you have a rumor you'd like us to debunk, leave it in the comments.

2. A person in the comments section says both belonged to same man

These animals were not roaming around free. And they are not wild animals. They were raised from cubs by my cousin. He could not get the tiger to go with him so he left him behind in his enclosure. The lion went with him and was very calm.

Wow, I bet that the two of them together eat a whole lot. Must be expensive to keep them.
