Okay, I did something stupid. I got stopped in Elgin a couple of years ago for speeding (first time in 30 years) and he got me for expired plates, etc etc. I forgot about the tickets (like I said, I'm stupid) until recently when I tried to get a new driver's license. They won't let me because of the long forgotten tickets. So I called about the tickets. They told me that with the FTA's, I owe over $1K! I asked if I could do jail time and she said no. That's surprising to me because I got hauled in on a warrant for an old ticket a few years ago and spent my first and only night in jail. The ticket was then dismissed. Why can't I do that this time?
