I bet there are a lot of people out there today wishing they had given Romano just a little more (or hell, ANY) money. THIS, my friend, is why we should put some money out there to AS MANY candidates as possible. The game of "picking and choosing" where we're going to play is BULLSHIT. We should try to play EVERYWHERE.

1. Really this is incredibly amazing
Politex blog
Incumbent leading by 10 votes in Irving

State Rep. Linda Harper-Brown, R-Irving is leading by ten votes in her race against Democrat Bob Romano -- 19,778 to 19,768.

The race may be the deciding factor in whether Republicans have a majority in the Texas House or if both parties are evenly split, according to Austin-based Quorum Report.

Given that there are provisional ballots and absentee ballots to consider, this could take a little time to sort out.

UPDATE: At midnight, Harper-Brown was up by 25 votes.

Who would have ever imagined this one. Holy moly!

:kick: for Bob Romano!

2. The Shaky Balance of Power in the Texas House
At stake is whether GOP has even nominal control of the House
About 9 a.m. on Monday, the 17 members of Dallas County’s early voting ballot board are expected to meet to review the 276 provisional ballots in the HD 105 race. At stake is Rep. Linda Harper-Brown’s (R-Irving) slim 29-vote lead over Democratic challenger Bob Romano.

So, the fate of the TEXAS HOUSE rests on a difference of TEN votes....for now! What a nail biter. OMG. I would LOVE to see Craddick gone. I would LOVE to see an entire rearrangement of every committee..... waiting for tomorrow will be extremely difficult!!!
I hate when these things drag on......

3. What the hell is going on in Texas?
Sorry, someone needs to explain the process to me.

Romano is down by 20 pts and will ask for a recount. Great.

Chris Bell apparently got 51% of the vote for his TX State Senate seat. And, the campaign is now sending me stuff about the fact that he will be involved in a run-off election. What's up?

Is there an automatic run-off if the margin of difference is too small? So, why isn't the Romano election in HD105 now a run-off, too? Why is one a recount and the other is a run-off?

Is there something I'm missing? Did they already do a recount in SD17, too?

Thanks for any clarification! I'm trying to keep on top of these things.

4. Where did you see that Bell got 51% of the vote?
Looks to me like he got 39%

To answer your question, I'm reasonably confident that we go to a runoff when no candidate gets 50% + 1.

By the way, Romano is down by 20 *votes* not by 20 *points* ... hee.
