Few clamoring to name things after current president

By Ken Herman
WASHINGTON BUREAU
Thursday, November 20, 2008

WASHINGTON — Former President George Bush has an aircraft carrier, an airport in Houston, a turnpike north of Dallas and the George Bush Center for Intelligence (the CIA headquarters in Langley, Va.).

Lincoln has a tunnel. Washington has a bridge and a state. Hoover has a dam. Madison has a Square Garden.

President Ronald Reagan has nearly 100 things named in his honor, including a ballistic missile test site, a New Hampshire mountain and a bust at a McDonald's in Alabama.

President George W. Bush has an elementary school, a Waco-area road and highways in Ghana and Georgia (the country, not the state).

Whatever happened to the sewer treatment plant that might have gotten G.W.s name? This one:

'George W Bush Sewage Plant' Proposed In San Francisco

April 2, 2008

"Looking to honor the forty-third President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, the recently formed Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco is looking to change the name of the Oceanside Wastewater Treatment Facility. It seems the group would like to rename the SF Zoo adjacent facility to the 'George W Bush Sewage Plant,' SFist reports.

Voters Flush George W. Bush Sewage Plant Proposition, Ruin Backers’ Plans for Double-Entendre-Laden Victory Speech

Well, shit.

By Joe Eskenazi

Gathered in front of a sculpture of Abraham Lincoln conveniently sitting, yet leaning forward – not unlike someone in the midst of utilizing the toilet – backers of a proposition to rename a Parkside sewage plant after President George W. Bush waited out a cold night.

While Barack Obama stormed to victory and re-defined the term “blue state,” there was no joy in sewageville. When all the dust – we’ll assume it was dust – settled, they’d lost by roughly a 70-30 ratio.

This came as a blow to Bob Katz, who flew in all the way from Florida to be here for what he assumed would be the Proposition R victory party. Katz had been telling anyone who’d listen how a sewage plant should be named after the president for years, so when he found out such a plan was in the works in San Francisco, he enthusiastically lent his support.

Too bad!

5. Our state signs - are you serious?
I hope that's true but I can't see the Rs in control of the Lege doing any such thing. Those idiots are proud of GW Bush. The 15% of the nation that still approves of Bush and the way he has handled the economy, the war etc all live in Texas. :eyes:

6. How about naming it "Crap and Crappier"
Two presidents who flushed America's reputation down the shit hole.

Two seater.

#1 The Reagan "Trickle down" memorial
#2 The G.W. "Asshole" Bush memorial. I would suggest that you get someone to paint his likeness on the toilet lid too.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

8. George W Bush Airport in South Houston
It is now called Ellington. Where he flew out of when he was in the guard.

It has a trailer house terminal with cheap carpet, a snack machine, and cold drink dispenser.

It never developed into anything except for an air show each year.

Kind of fitting.
