hee hee. I'm just following Howard Dean's advice. From here on out, no race goes uncontested. I plan on targeting a couple of interesting folks, and scouring the ground for likely candidates. :D

Often, a potential candidate against an R incumbent will be guided to another race, or even sometimes asked not to run, if the R incumbent has been collecting contributions for years and has built a huge war chest. The thought process (right or wrong) is that they don't want to unleash all that money, especially if the money focuses in the right way (R get out the vote, etc.). My wife ran for judge in 02 and was criticized by some on that very basis. Of course, we ignored the criticism, but there you have it.
