Well, today I cast my ballot |
|
Four years I've been waiting for this day, although my Texas vote really only helps Kerry in the popular vote. How I'd love to live in a swing state. I haven't lived in a swing state since 1988 when I was 12.
Travis County has those lovely voting machines, not Diebold, but someone else. I had no problem with them, but I still get nervous that there is no paper trail.
I voted anti-Republican for every office. If a Democrat was running that's who I voted for. There were a handfull of local races where it was just a Republican vs. a Libertarian. In those races I voted Libertarian. Two judicial races had Republicans running unopposed. In those races I left the ballot blank.

1. I voted today, too, in Dripping Springs. |
|
We still have punch cards but I made sure my one punch (straight ticket Democrat, of course!) was clean and clear!
My husband did the same thing you did -- voted for Libertarians whenever there wasn't a Democrat running. Frankly, I had been campaigning all morning and was just too tired -- plus, I didn't think of it! :)
I can proudly say that NO REPUBLICAN got my vote today!
I had to wait about 45 minutes but the line was taking an hour and a half earlier in the day. How about you?

2. At least you have hope. |

Texas could turn blue. I miss the days when I lived in New Mexico. I live in Utah, and I'll feel victorious if Bush gets under 75% here, LOL. Even so, I am proud to cast my vote and feel that it DOES count. Am I delusional?

3. Actually, Texas is a swing state |
|
No one knows it yet, 'cause it's been awhile since we've been able to get out the vote. Maybe this time we'll turn Texas blue!

if you don't live here you can just eff off, cause you don't know shit about what's going on here.
Edited to add: I don't mean to be rude, but why do you need to feel the need to come into our nice thread and pee in our cheerios? do you have a substantive, fact-based, well-reasoned opinion to offer about our prospects of turning Texas blue in the next few cycles? if you don't, then, yes, you CAN just go eff off. Gracias.
