Morris Meyer letter in Dallas Morning News
Instead of giving Joe Barton an outright endorsement, Friday's http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/102204dnedibarton.4ce9.html">Dallas Morning News published a rather odd one-sided "honest editorial conversation" with Joe Barton. http://www.meyer04.us/">Morris Meyer wrote a beautiful response in the http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/letters/stories/102304dnediltrs.97e9b.html">letters section of today's paper

Excerpt:

My 'conversation'
On Friday, The Dallas Morning News had its election season "conversation" with U.S. Rep. Joe Barton. And on Wednesday, I was standing at an early-voting location in Arlington and had my election season conversation with a woman who broke down in tears thanking me for running against Mr. Barton...Her face and the innocent faces of children with Down syndrome who line the Ellis County parades that I have been in, and the haunting thought of parents burying children who have died of respiratory distress, have given me the strength to look the voters in the 6th Congressional District in the eye and ask them for the honor of representing them in Washington...No matter what the outcome on Nov. 2, I remain humbled by the opportunity to serve.

1. I saw them both, and I was wondering...
did Meyer boycott the DMN "candidate conversation"? He wouldn't have been the first candidate to do so in DFW area by any means -- but that's the only reason i could think of as to why they would post such a one-sided "editorial"?

4. Check this out...
Morris Meyer did, in fact, answer all the Dallas Morning News questions in the Candidate Quiz:
http://www1.vgt2004.org/a-dallas/compare-candidates.go?choice1=1000515&choice2=180853&x=35&y=13

Joe Barton gave the same response to every question: "Candidate Response Not Yet Available"

2. Man, I loathe Joe Barton
so much after having been represented by Martin Frost for the longest time. I am now in his district and despise this man. I voted for Meyer on Tuesday but my area is 70% repukelican. I hope there is an upset here in my part of Ellis County.

3. In fact,
I think I will contact Morris Meyer personally and help him no matter what happens. We need to really organize against this guy. To me, Barton is right up there with DeLay and Sessions as far rethuglicans that I can't stand the most from this great state besides *.

7. Go and talk to Katie Huebner. She knows more about Joe than you
ever want to. She and here staff will help you all you want.

5. How do things look for Meyer?
I've been contributing to his campaign since the spring and I'm a little puzzled that his race is almost unknown compared to Morrison's against DeLay.

6. Don 't be amazed. We have the Dallas Democratic Headquarters to
thank. "They" (hdqtrs) decided to support a few. As in Frost vs. Sessions, and Katie, a few others, but for the most part the Dallas Dem Party has been a disappointment to many candidates. Zero support. I've been block walking in precincts these last two days. We ran into people that wanted to support Dem's and were not happy they could not get signs unless they drove to Fair Park headquarters to pick up said signs and then pay $5.00 to get them. We had one guy tell us yesterday how unhappy he was. Good God, that was hard to hear, it hurt and so no wonder why.

The Democratic Office in Dallas has failed miserably this year.

I hope we will have another chance in 2005, and 2006.
