Austin: What's with the petition to recall Wynn and McCracken??? |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 06:42 PM by GloriaSmith
There was one other name on the recall petition but I can't remember who it was.
So I'm at Randall's today buying some dog food and when I leave the store, some guy comes up to me with a petition. Laying on top of the actual petition to sign was a piece of paper with the proposed toll road map. He claimed it was a petition saying we don't agree with the toll road proposal, but then I took off the map and on top of the petition was a description of what it was: To recall Wynn, McCracken and someone else.
Has anyone else seen or heard about this? I'm assuming they were there because it was an early voting location. (Randall's at Braker and 183)

I just thought it was a bit sneaky to say it was to voice your opinion against the poll when really the petition was for a recall.

And everytime I have seen these recall petitioners they have been pitching the recall in a very dishonest manner. At the Howard Dean rally in August they were pitching it as a way to "fight Rick Perry's toll road plan." I'm no fan of the toll roads but I think our elected officials made a tough and necessary choice after the Legislature refused to provide any other way to finance highway construction. I will not sign that petition nor vote for the recall.
